Supreme Court asked the CCT to delay proceedings in the corruption trial of Bukola Saraki


A panel of Supreme Court judges led by Justice John Fabiyi has asked the Code of Conduct Tribunal to delay proceedings in the corruption trial of Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki.
The justices sitting in Abuja gave the hint after the Federal Prosecutor Rotimi Jacobs made a commitment before the court to stay proceedings at the CCT  to enable the apex court to accelerate hearing of the appeal.

39 Year old man arrested for robbery a day after completing jail term

A Is it a curse or what? 39-year-old man, Segun Adeleke has been arrested for allegedly robbing a motorcyclist in Oyo town.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Adeleke had served two separate jail terms and his latest arrest came a day after he completed a five-year jail term.
According to police authorities, he was released from prison on November 4, 2015 and allegedly committed robbery the following day.

Police arrests 400 Level LAUTECH Undergraduate for Raping Female Student

Oyo State Police paraded a 400-Level male student of the department of Transport, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Kayode Oluwaseyi, for allegedly breaking into students’ hostels. Oyo Police Commissioner Leke Oyebade said the suspect also stole valuable property and sometimes raped his female victims.

The police boss said the suspect belonged to a notorious criminal gang aka, three Mopols. Oluwaseyi was paraded with two others, Adeyemi Taiwo and Adeyemi Kehinde, who were said to have been receiving some of the stolen items.

Kayode Fayemi promises to diversify economy to solid minerals

Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode FayemiFormer Governor of Ekiti State who happened to be the new Minister of Solid Minerals Mr Kayode Fayemi, on Wednesday in Abuja, promised to diversify Nigeria economy from its oil export to solid minerals.
Fayemi made the promise when he assumed duty with the Minister of State, Mr Abubakar Bawa, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Istifanus Fuktur.
He said solid minerals were vehicles to diversify the economy and boost the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

APC Senators Stage a walk out as Sen Ekweremadu Presides

There was a drama at red chamber yesterday 11th of Nov as some APC senators walked out of the plenary session been presided over by the Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

Senators Ahmad Lawan and George Akume, who were favoured by the All Progressives Congress to emerge as the Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively at the June 9 inauguration of the Senate, walked out of plenary in protest on Wednesday.
The senators, who walked out in company with some of their colleagues, protested the decision of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to allow his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, to preside over plenary in his absence.
Ekweremadu presided over the Wednesday sitting because Saraki was at the Presidential Villa to attend the inauguration of new ministers by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Lawan and three others, later held a brief discussion before they left for their various offices in the new Senate wing.

UNILAG Lecturer gets 21 years in Prison

The randy lecturer, Afeez BaruwaJustice has finally been served to the randy  UNILAG Lecturer Akinfolarin Baruwa who raped the 18-year-old admission seeker
In the celebrated case that began his journey to jail, Baruwa was said to have raped the girl who is his friend's daughter after her parents asked him to help her secure admission into the institution.:
The good news was shared by someone who knows the randy lecturer who also said his problem could be traced to the problems he had with his first wife whom he dumped to marry another woman.
"I just want to inform you that the Unilag lecturer that raped the daughter of his friend that wanted admission has been jailed on Friday November 6, 2015 for 21 years.

The Economist-LASTMA officials disobeyed Gov Ambode's directive-Steve Ayorinde

The Lagos state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde.Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde has responded to an article written by The Economist, which criticised Governor Ambode, The Commissioner revealed that LASTMA officials disobeyed the Governor's directive.
LASTMA acronym for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. A body set up to manage and ensure the free flow of traffic in the state.
