SAD NEW!!! FATHER U-TURN IS DEAD

Sad news! One of Nigeria's most popular 90s musicians Olufemi Mayomi, aka Father U Turn, is dead

The dancehall artiste who rose from poverty as an orphan, to build a successful and inspiring career as a songwriter, recording artiste, TV presenter and performer, passed on in Lagos today, following a brief illness. He was 36 years old. May his soul rest in peace...Amen. Read more about him after the cut...

The late U Turn was from Kabba-Bunu in Kogi State where he first tried his hands on entertainment, working as a radio and TV presenter.

He had a brief stint at NTA in Lagos, after relocating here, before signing a deal with Ultima Records which released his early albums.

He was a little boy, with braids and a charming personality. And his signature intro 'Apoola Berekete' was far beyond his stature. But he got the industry's attention and got a leg in the door before long.  After years of club tours and free gigs, he got his first break when he was signed to one of the biggest record labels of the time, Ultima Records.

Ultima engaged Nelson Brown to work on his first album which proved to be a huge success.

The hits 'African Culture' and 'Shakara' threw him into national limelight, instantly putting him in the league of bonafide ghetto stars like Daddy Showkey and Daddy Fresh.

He espoused Okokomaiko where he resided, with many songs dedicated to the Lagos outskirt.

His second album 'Padlock Ur Mouth' produced the smash hit 'Yetunde' a collaboration with Pasuma Wonder.

With dozens of awards confirming his exploits, including multiple decoration by Awards for Musical Excellence in Nigeria (AMEN), Youths Awards for Excellence in Music (YAFEM), amongst many others, U Turn lead a generation of alternative dancehall cats by the hands. And in Okokomaiko where he spent the last two decades of his life, he was like a king. His success encouraged many children in the area to embrace music, and he supported many of them.

Although his later years were troubled by label issues with Bayowa Music, and career challenges that came with unsuccessful albums, Father U Turn remained dedicated to his art - recording endlessly and refusing to let go of his passion and dedication to reggae/dancehall. He also vehemently refused to relocate from Okokomaiko, despite constant pleas from friends and family.

He died in a hospital around Okokomaiko today, after suffering a liver related illness. A family member confirmed he had been in and out of hospital for many weeks. He had been on admission at the last hospital for 10 days before he passed on.

He is survived by his siblings, wife Ajimoh and five children.
May His Soul Rest in Perfect Peace

I really need a man Right Now-Funke akindele

Weeks have turned to months since actress Funke Akindele ( aka JENIFA) called it a quit with Mr. Kehinde Oloyede as their marriage crumbled. Reality has finally set in and the actress is already missing a companion around her, she would want to get settled down fast and begin the business of bringing up the little ones, her own kids, if only the right man comes along. JENIFA has urged any man who is interested in her not to be afraid to come for her. She said: “To all the guys scared of approaching me for marriage, I say, you don’t have to let inferiority complex to sort of overwhelm you. If God says you are the right person for me, then nothing will stop it.” She also bares her mind on her present fate: "Man proposes and God disposes. So people should keep their fingers crossed and pray for me to meet the bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh and not somebody else. It is one of my dreams to bear children soon and I believe it will come to pass soon. Once I start my home, I hope to cut down on acting so that I can give my family more attention." She told Entertainment Express that her mates are already mothers and she want to join the train. “Perhaps, this is how God wants me to be for now. When the time comes, and that time could be anytime.
Funke!  I wish you the best

(ANAMBRA uPDATE)INEC has rescheduled election in 65 polling unit

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rescheduled election in 65 polling units in Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area for Sunday. Voting could not hold in the wards due to late arrival of materials and other logistics challenges.
Electoral Commissioner (REC) Prof Chukwuemeka Onukogu made the announcement in a statement issued in Awka on Saturday.
The statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer Frank Egbo said the rescheduling was due to “challenges of logistics” in the areas.
“Any inconveniences are highly regretted,” the statement added. Onukogu said the rescheduled election will hold at Obosi Registration Area, Ward 07.
The election will hold between 8am and 12.30pm.
INEC urged all parties to get ready for the poll.
The disenfranchisement of voters marred the election in Idemili North and South Local Government Areas due to lack of voting materials, incomplete voters’ registers, and lack results sheets.
In centres where over 600 people registered, only about 100 or less  found  their names in the registers.
Some of the voters were told that additional list containing more names of registered persons would be brought, but none came.

Ronaldo is the most professional player I've ever met-Mourinho

Jose Mourinho says coaching Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid remains the highlight of his coaching career so far.

The pair spent three years together at Santiago Bernabeu, with Ronaldo scoring an astonishing 168 goals in 164 games in that time.

And although they reportedly didn't always see eye to eye at los Blancos, the current Chelsea boss was full of praise for the 28-year-old forward.

"Coaching him was the highlight of my career," Mourinho told France Football.
"He's the most professional player I've ever met.
"A coach and player may have their differences at a given time, but it ends there. I don't have any problem.
"Being at a club with Cristiano Ronaldo is the best thing to have happened to me.
"Why? Because if I let him pass ahead of me he would be mobbed immediately, and I would be free to pass by in no hurry.”
Ronaldo has already scored 24 goals in 17 games this term in all competitions and is one of the leading contenders for the Ballon d'Or.

(MONEYSPEAKING) Ali Modu Sheriff acquires New JET

According to a report by Encomium magazine, former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sherriff has toppled Bishop David Oyedepo as the owner of the largest fleet of private jets in Nigeria with the acquisition of a new jet valued at N11.5 billion.

Encomium reports
Former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has topped the chart of top 10 private jet owners in Nigeria with the acquisition of a brand new Gulfstream G650 model worth about $72 million (N11.5 billion). Encomium Weekly’s check revealed that it’s the most expensive private jet among wealthy Nigerians who are privileged to have these expensive toys. The latest acquisition brings to four planes in his fleet.
We gathered that the aircraft, which was registered in Dubai with special specifications, is the fourth in his fleet, as the former governor already has three old Dornier aircraft which he acquired from Aero Contractors at an estimated $3 million (N480 million).
According to our source, a Dornier aircraft is used for charter services as Sheriff recently obtained an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for his airline, Skybird. But a source said the Gulfstream was acquired for Sheriff’s personal use.

An operator who is aware of the purchase described the aircraft as top of the range, adding that it was unlikely that the former governor would deploy it for commercial service.

A Nigerian pilot and chief executive officer of an airline that provides charter services, said by registering the aircraft overseas, Sheriff had denied Nigeria taxes and import duty on the aircraft.
He added that no Nigerian pilot or engineer would be employed to operate or work on the aircraft because with the foreign registration, only pilots and engineers licensed in the United Arab Emirates would be authorised to operate and service the aircraft.

“By registering the aircraft overseas, he has avoided tax and import duty, which he should pay to a country where he is a citizen and from which he made the money which he now spends on a foreign crew,” he said.
The source also explained that Sheriff would also be paying overseas facility managers for the maintenance of the aircraft and would also pay charges to the company under which the aircraft was registered overseas.

The main price of the aircraft is $65 million but other charges could have raised it to $72 million, and according to US-based Forbes magazine, the Gulfstream G650 has an order book of 200 customers throughout the world.

“A $65 million price tag doesn’t seem to detract from the fascination with this incredible airplane. While the rest of the business aviation industry is battling the depressed economy, there seems to be a buoyant market in the US and abroad for this ultra-high-priced, high-performance jet.
“And why not? With a top speed of 92 per cent of the speed of sound (arguably the fastest civilian jet in the world), room for a basketball team, 8,000-statute-mile range and some of the most sophisticated avionics rivalling nearly anything in the sky, this airplane is perfect for doing business on a global scale.

“Because of its superlatives, including price, however, it also appeals greatly to the ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it’ crowd,” Forbes said on its Brand Voice website.
Gulfstream described the aircraft as ultra-high-speed, ultra-long-range business jet and the gold standard in business aviation.

The model was introduced in 2008 with a capacity for eight passengers and a crew of four on nonstop legs of 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km) for standard configuration.

“That means it will link Dubai with New York and London with Buenos Aires. With its powerful Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, the G650 will cover shorter distances at a speed of Mach 0.925. No traditional business jet will take you closer to the speed of sound,” Gulfstream said on its website.
The Gulfstream G650 was formally launched as an internal company project in May 2005, and publicly unveiled on March 13, 2008. At the public announcement occasion, company executives stated the new model would become Gulfstream’s largest, fastest and most expensive business jet on entry to the market.

The G650 has a cruise speed of Mach 0.85 to 0.90, with maximum speed of Mach 0.925 and a range of up to 7,000nmi (13,000 km). It can be equipped with a full kitchen and bar and may be equipped with a variety of entertainment features including satellite phones and wireless Internet.
The jet use two Rolls Royce BR725 engines, each producing a maximum thrust of 17,000 pounds-force (75.6 kN). Gulfstream states that with a weight of less than 100,000 pounds (45,360 kg), it is able to land at small airports avoiding the busy airports around the world.

To provide better usage of the internal volume, Gulfstream designers rejected the usual circular fuselage cross-section in favor of an oval which uses a flatter lower portion. The cabin is 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 m) wide and 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) high. The fuselage is of metal construction and composite construction is used for empennage, winglets, rear pressure bulkhead, engine cowlings, cabin floor structure and many fairings. The eight oval cabin windows on each side of the fuselage are 28 inches (71 cm) wide. The wing uses greater sweep (36 degrees) than previous Gulfstream aircraft (for example, the G550 wing has 27 degrees of sweep). It does not use leading-edge high-lift devices, and tracks for rear-mounted flaps are completely enclosed within the airfoil contour. The wing’s leading edge is a continuously-changing curve, and the airfoil varies continuously from root to tip (the tip incorporates winglets).

The aircraft controls are completely fly-by-wire, with no mechanical control between pilot and flight surfaces. The surfaces are moved by dual hydraulic systems. More airliners today are using fly-by-wire, but only one other current business jet (the Dassault Falcon 7X) is so equipped.
The G650 shares its yokes and column with the G550 in an effort to receive a common type rating. The wing design was completed in 2006. A total of 1,400 hours of wind tunnel testing was completed by 2008. A pressure-test fuselage was built and tested, including an ultimate-pressure test of 18.37 psi.

The G650 taxied under its own power for the first time on September 26, 2009.  A public rollout ceremony was later held on September 29, 2009. The G650 had its maiden flight on November 25, 2009.

Flight testing for the maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925 was announced as completed on May 4, 2010.Gulfstream reported on August 26, 2010 that the G650 hit a maximum speed of Mach 0.995 during a dive as part of its 1,800-hour flight test programme. In April 2011, a G650 crashed during flight testing. The G650 test aircraft were grounded until May 28, 2011, when the remaining test aircraft were allowed to return to flight testing. On September 7, 2012, the G650 received its type certificate from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Its first delivery was to an American customer named Preston Henn on December 27, 2012.

The former governor, who is also the chairman of opposition All Progressives Congress, APC. Board of Trustees hides in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, because Boko Haram boys want his head. SAS is also wanted by the Borno Civilian JTF who recently burned his partner, Mala Othman’s house and got him arrested.

Thus, findings by ENCOMIUM Weekly revealed that the new top 10 private jet owners in Nigeria are:

(sport) WORLD CUP QUALIFIER-Nigeria plays against Ethiopia on Saturday.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially concluded preparations for Saturday’s second leg final World Cup play-off duel against the Wayla Antelopes of Ethiopia.
The Eagles at about 7.30 a.m. on Friday were at the UJ Esuene stadium in Calabar where they held close to two hours of tactical and physical exercises in readiness for Saturday’s crunch clash against the East Africans.
After initial light warm-up exercises, the 24 players in training were split into two sides (probables and possibles) and they engaged themselves across the length and breadth of Saturday’s ‘battle field’ with Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide standing in goal at each end.
Though the entire team looked sharp and were oozing with confidence in front of the sizeable crowd present at Friday’s training, some players like Obinna Nsofor, Bright Dike, Kenneth Omeruo and Newcastles’ Shola Ameobi dazzled as they attempt to break into the starting eleven for the make or mar clash against the Ethiopians.
Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES after the hectic session, the captain of the team, Vincent Enyeama, stated that the only one goal before him and his teammates is to qualify for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
“We have done everything we need to do in training; we have been drilled and gone through some hard work. So we have done what we have to do, the rest is left to God to do,” the Lille of France shot stopper stated.
With Nigeria holding the advantage having secured a 2-1 win in the first leg away from home, Enyeama stated that getting three points (victory) is not the team’s target but making it to Brazil 2014.
“Really it’s not three points that matters but for we to qualify and by the grace of God we are going to make Nigerians proud tomorrow, we are proud of this colour (green and white) and we are ready to do our best to defend it,” he said.
Asked what qualifying for the World cup means to him, Enyeama, despite making it to the Korea/Japan 2002 and South Africa 2010 World Cups, said it means the world to him.
“It means the world to us, so that is why we are ready to do our very best to make it there,” the Eagles stand-in skipper concluded.

Breaking News! Governor Sule Lamido's sons arrested

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested two sons of Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido, over an alleged N10billion fraud.
Aminu and Mustapha  Lamido were arrested Thursday in Kano and flown to Abuja on Friday morning, and are currently being interrogated at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja by a crack team of detectives.
The arrest of the governor’s sons, insiders say, is in furtherance of the investigation that commenced in December 2012 when Aminu Sule Lamido was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport en route Cairo, Egypt for failure to declare the $50,000 he had on him.
Although Aminu has since been prosecuted and convicted by a Federal High Court in Kano, investigation as to how he came by the money has led investigations to uncover a web of money laundering in which billions of naira from Jigawa state government accounts are funnelled into the accounts of companies run by the Jigawa state governor and his two sons.
Over N10billion is said to have been transferred from Jigawa state government accounts into the accounts in which Sule Lamido and his two sons have interest from 2007 till date.
The Commission is said to have traced these transfers to 10 companies where Lamido and sons are directors and signatories to the account.
The companies include Bamaina Alluminium Limited, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, Rawda Integrated Services Limited, Speeds International Limited and Saby Integrated Nigeria Limited.
The account of these companies received huge cash inflow between 2007 and 2013, a period that coincide with the tenure of Sule Lamido as governor of Jigawa state. For instance in Bamaina Aluminium where Sule Lamido and his two sons are directors, investigations revealed that the company’s account controlled by Mustapha as signatory received total credit of N1.52billion between January 2010 and August 2013. It recorded a total debit of the same amount, with Mustapha and other companies in which Lamido and his sons are directors, being the beneficiaries.
In the same vein, Bamaina Holdings Limited’s account with the governor as sole signatory received a total of N1.19billion between February 2007 and July 2013.
About N1billion was paid from this account into accounts of companies controlled by the governor and his sons.
Massive lodgements were also discovered in the account of Bamaina Company Nigeria limited controlled by Mustapha as sole signatory from Bamaina Alluminium. Between January 2010 and July 2013, the account received over N500million.
From the account of Rawda Integrated Services Limited controlled by Mustapha, there have also been massive movement of funds to another company run by Sule Lamido, Speeds International Limited. Speeds’ account recorded a turnover ofN2.2billion between January 2007 and February 2010.
In the account of Rawda with a new generation bank investigators discovered the movement of N2.6billion to an unknown signatory.
That account recorded over one hundred withdrawals running to over N600milion in cash between November 2007 and April 2008.
Saby Integrated Services Nigeria Limited, another company owned by Lamido received over N730million from several Jigawa State government agencies between June 2010 and August 2010.

Hackers attempted Obamacare

                                                                   Barack Obama
Hackers have attempted more than a dozen cyber attacks against the Obamacare website, according to a top Homeland Security Department official.
The attacks, which are under investigation, failed, said the official.
Authorities also are investigating a separate report of a tool designed to put heavy strain on HealthCare.gov through a so-called distributed denial of service. It does not appear to have been activated.
“We received about 16 reports from HHS that are under investigation and one open source report about a denial of service,” according to Acting Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Roberta Stempfley of the Office of Cybersecurity and Communications.
Stempfley testified at a hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee that the attempts were made between November 6 and November 8, but none were successful.

(Sport) Teammates are conspiring against me-Eto'o

                                                                     Samuel Eto’o
Samuel Eto’o has alleged that some of his team mates are conspiring against him ahead of the playoff against Tunisia.
Cameroon host Tunisia on Sunday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé in a 2014 FIFA World Cup final leg play-off with the scores 0-0 from the first leg.
The Indomitable Lions’ skipper made the allegations on Wednesday during a press conference that he attended together with Coach Volker Finke alongside vice-captains Nicolas Nkoulou and Enoh Eyong.
The Chelsea striker said rumours of a conspiracy against him by some of his teammates are true and alleged that instructions had been issued not to pass the ball to him whenever he is in a good scoring position.
“It is sad to say but it is true. And as the coach is present, I am asking him to make sure it does not happen anymore in our national team. If we were not about to play such a crucial game, I would have asked you to have a look at some of the matches yourselves,” Eto’o said.
And Eto’o went on to explain why he had played so often out of position during the first leg in Radès.
“If I moved back so much towards the midfield against Tunisia, it is before I knew about it already. I had to play like that and I did it, but on Sunday we are talking about Cameroon, about our country. We must put our problems behind us and play for Cameroon,” Eto’o said.

Akwa Ibom Governor supervises beating of opposition lawmaker?

The Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly has descended into a serious crisis after the state governor, Godswill Akpabio, personally supervised the beating of a lawmaker he suspected to be politically opposed to him and his loyalists, Premium Times has learnt.
Mr. Akpabio, witnesses said, watched as his loyalists manhandled Onofiok Luke, chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations, who was accused of being rude to the governor after he rose in defense of another lawmaker accused of challenging a loyalist of the governor at a caucus meeting held two days earlier.
The governor, our sources said, beamed with smiles as members of his kitchen cabinet, comprising Nse Ntuen, chairman of Essien Udim local government and Emmanuel Ekon, a member representing Abak/Ika/Etim Ekpo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, assaulted Mr. Luke for being allegedly rude to the governor.
The incident happened November 2 at a funeral service in honour of the mother-in-law of a state lawmaker, Gabriel Tobi, held in Etim Ekpo local government area of the state.
Mr. Akpabio had at the event summoned some lawmakers and tongue-lashed them for doing nothing after Victor Udofia, a lawmaker representing Ikono/Ini state Constituency, allegedly attacked his loyalist, Aniekan Akpan, a member representing  Ukanafun state constituency, at a caucus meeting of the House.

Witnesses say as the governor fumed and abused Mr. Udofia, who was not at the event, an equally furious Mr. Luke rose in defence of his colleague, telling the governor to abandon his divide-and-rule tactics in the interest of the state.

The governor had directed the speaker of the Assembly, Sam Ikon, to immediately activate a  process that would lead to the suspension of Mr. Udofia from the House. But Mr. Luke reportedly shot back, saying Mr. Udofia committed no offence and that any move to punish him would be resisted.
Angered by Mr. Luke’s audacity, Messrs Ekon and Ntuen descended on him, hitting and punching him repeatedly.
Mr. Akpabio simply looked on, our sources said.
The fight, we learnt, only ended after Paul Ekpo, the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, intervened.
The Akwa state House of Assembly is now divided along those from the governor’s minority Annang ethnic group and those from the majority Ibibio ethnic group.

Some lawmakers accuse Mr. Akpabio of financially empowering legislators from his ethnic group and then using them to undermine the speaker and other lawmakers from Ibibioland.
Messrs Ntuen and Ekon, who attacked Mr. Luke, are from Mr. Akpabio’s Annang ethnic group while Mr. Luke is Ibibio.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that after the incident, Mr. Akpabio directed his aides to embark on a tour of media establishments to compromise them and get them to drop stories on the accident.
Concerned that the incident might do further damage to his image, our sources within the administration said, the governor also hurriedly convened a press conference where he allegedly bribed reporters with N50,000 each not to report the incident.

Mr. Akpabio could not be reached to comment for this story.
But his spokesperson, who is also the state Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, confirmed there was a disagreement between Mr. Onofiok and the governor.
Mr. Umanah said while talking to the governor on the day in question, the lawmaker raised his voice against Mr. Akpabio.

“Other members asked him not to shout because he was talking to the governor,” Mr. Umanah said. “Later, everything calmed down.”
The commissioner added via a text message, “I was there in person. Nobody beat up Onofiok talk less of doing so before the governor.”
Mr. Onofiok could not be reached for comments. But a source close to him said he had been under pressure from Governor Akpabio in the last few days to address the media to say he was never beaten by the governor’s loyalists.

Beyoncé has been feeling like a single mother lately

According to new reports, the pressures of touring have Jay Z and Beyonce this close to breaking up..

From Star Magazine
Things seem to have taken a rocky turn for the seemingly happily married couple. Beyonce, 32, is reportedly thinking about taking a break from her marriage because she thinks Jay is being “selfish” and not putting his family first.
While Beyonce was in Australia for her Mrs. Carter tour, Jay Z visited her and the two lovebirds took a mini 3-day vacation to a private resort to spend some quality time together. But apparently it was more than just a relaxing trip.
"Jay Z’s early November trip to Australia was not just a family getaway, it was a last-ditch effort to keep his marriage afloat," an insider told Star.
"Jay Z’s decision to tour Europe at the same time as Beyoncé is touring Australia has caused serious damage to their relationship — damage that may be ultimately prove to be irreparable.”
Though the source says Bey didn’t have an issue with Jay, 43, going on tour with Justin Timberlake over the summer, she assumed that he would at least take the initiative to accompany her and their 19-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, on tour in Australia and New Zealand – instead of going clubbing all the time.
"Not only did he plan the tour without consulting her at all, but he didn’t even try to coordinate dates with her tour. She told him he was selfish."
"Beyoncé has been feeling like a single mother lately — and has been letting her husband know he’s on shaky ground, and she’s using the time they spend apart as a trial separation."

I will serve bayern until I die-HOENESS

The Roten president says he never thought about leaving the club, despite the upcoming court case over tax avoidance
Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has pledged to continue working for the club until he can "no longer breathe".

The former West Germany international has endured a tumultuous war, with an upcoming court case concerning allegedly unpaid taxes, prompting rumours that he could step down from his role.

However, Hoeness intends to work for the club for the rest of his life, but pledged to ask for a vote of confidence from Bayern members.

"I will serve this club - until I can no longer breathe!" he said at the club's annual general meeting.

“But only if I receive a clear mandate from you. I never considered stepping down, because the club never proposed it to me.

"The only important thing to me is the club, not the Handelsblatt [financial newspaper].

"I submit myself to the will of the membership by asking for a vote of confidence. I wish to give the membership the right to decide whether I’m still the right president for this club."

Club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge voiced his unwavering support for the 1974 World cup winner, who was cheered and applauded by club members.

"I am his friend and true friendship shows itself when there are problems," he said. "When I see you, dear members, paying tribute to Uli today, I believe that all of Bayern is his friend."

For his part, Hoeness admitted to being moved by the way he was greeted by club members and Hoeness' words.

"I'm overwhelmed. Not just for your speech, Karl-Heinz but by the reaction of our members," he continued.

"I would like to state a few facts. I have not failed to declare hundreds of millions of euros in unpaid tax. I’ve paid millions of euros in tax for many years.

"I’ve made donations totalling more than €5 million in the last five years, by not accepting fees for speeches. And I also donated the proceeds from the benefit match for my 60th birthday.

"But I’m not attempting to absolve myself of blame, I admit my mistakes.
