The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, has relocated to the North-East to personally supervise the war against Boko Haram insurgents in the zone. There had been a public outcry over the increased rate of the massacre of innocent civilians, including schoolchildren, by Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence and the Army, George Sekibo, confirmed the development to Punch on Sunday. He explained that Minimah’s relocation was in compliance with the committee’s resolution directing him to move to the zone to personally coordinate military operations there.

A member of the dreaded Boko Haram sect confessed before Pastor T.B. Joshua of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) yesterday, revealing how their plan to bomb the popular church in Lagos was thwarted.

The presidential jet, Nigerian Air Force 001 (5N-FGT), had earlier conveyed Jonathan to Minna for the -Peoples Democratic Party’s North-Central rally which held at the Trade Fair Centre, Minna.

Security personnel foiled an attempt by about 50 armed men to forcefully gain control of the Enugu State Government House in the early hours of Saturday.

Police officers, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and soldiers were among the security operatives who shot several times at the invaders and prevented them from gaining entry into the government house.

It was learnt that one of the attackers was killed during the shoot-out and three others were arrested.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sullivan Chime, Mr. Chukwudi Achife confirmed the incident.

He said the shoot-out lasted till about 4.30am, adding that no security personnel was injured during the attack.

Police arrests female cultist who arranged her friend's Gang raped

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ambrose Aisabor, yesterday, paraded a female student of the College of Technology, Offa, Miss Mary Awolola, alleged to be a cultist, for allegedly luring her friend to be gang-raped by five of her cult members.

Mary confessed at the Police headquarters in Ilorin that she was also gang-raped much earlier by four boys before she was initiated into the cult group.

She said she lured her friend to be raped by her cultist friends because she refused to join them in spite of the pressure mounted on her.

Mary also said she regretted her action having been arrested by the Police and more importantly that she was not gaining anything from the cult activities.

Few days to the second edition of AfricaMagic Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA, Mrs Abiola Alabi, Managing Director, M-Net Africa, has resigned her appointment with the multinational cable/satellite content company.

Though leaving the company at this auspicious time has been mired in controversies, Alabi, we learnt, she tendered her resignation letter some days ago but she will still coordinate the AMVCA ceremony holding on Saturday, 8 March, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos. The awards was conceived under her tenure as the head of the company.

It was gathered that Alabi’s planned exit from the company has been on since November 2013. Though she has served past her tenure, she was prevailed upon to complete all the running projects including AfricaMagic’s 10th anniversary celebrations held late last year and the AMVCA holding this weekend. And having delivered on her mandate, she is now stepping down from her exalted seat.

Alabi, who joined M-Net as its managing director in 2008, has been noted as one of the most accomplished and powerful women in African media.

Immediately after the incident the official has been arrested by the police at Pen Cinema Police Station.
Mrs. Komolafe Abimbola was on her way to the office when the incident happened on Wednesday, around Pen Cinema area of Agege.
Shittu accused Mrs. Abimbola of not obeying the traffic light and ordered her to come out of her car.
The woman was said to have followed Shittu’s instruction after which there was an argument between them.
During the argument Shittu have slapped Mrs. Abimbola and she sustained injury on her face....

The State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos State has released popular musician, Obesere, who was accused of raping a 29-year-old student of the Polytechnic Ibadan.

Obesere, whose real name is Abass Akande, was invited for interrogation at the Department 14 of the SCID.

Obesere, popularly called Papa Tosibe, was alleged to have raped the victim at his Okota home.

Policemen at the SCID told our correspondent that the musician was invited to the SCID on Wednesday and released immediately.

A police source said, “We invited him based on the petition we received and he has written a statement. He said the woman was his girlfriend and she had come to visit him at home.

“Obesere is not a flight risk, so we have released him on bail. However, investigations will continue and if he is found culpable, he will be arrested.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the ceremony marking his 77th birthday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday said that he did not know his real age.

Obasanjo described the 77th birthday as his “official birthday”.

According to Vanguard ....Popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, has been arrested by the Police in Lagos State for allegedly raping a 29-year-old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya in his Okota residence, Lagos.
The victim, who took the matter to the Police, also narrated her ordeal in the hands of the musician whose shows generally fascinate society women.

Credible source informed the Nigerian Tribune that the hoodlums, numbering about 12, attacked students in three hostels located at Oke Baale area, a few metres away from the main campus of the institution and had carnal knowledge of three female students, after dispossessing them of their belongings, while male students, who did not have money were mercilessly beaten and stabbed.
