Police Command, in western Nigeria, yesterday discovered a “Baby Factory” where young girls have been engaged in delivering babies for sale in Akute-Ajuwon community in Ifo local government area of the State.
Eight young girls were rescued by the Police at a house on Sebanjo Crescent in Akute, also a suburb of Lagos. The police arrested Mrs Angela Chigozie and his brother-in-law, Obinna Ndunaga for interrogation at the State Police headquarters, Eleweeran, Abeokuta.
Three of the pregnant women were teenagers; they included 16-year-old Precious Steven as well as Miracle Eze and Blessing Saviour who are both 17 years old.

Robbers invades C.A.C church,steal Phones and N2m

No fewer than 15 armed robbers invaded the Christ Apostolic Church in Alagbado, Lagos State, stealing about 40 phones and money estimated at N2m.

The robbers, who operated for about 20 minutes, were said to have also attempted raping some of the church members before they left the church premises.

It was learnt that the men came around 2am penultimate Friday while the over 450 congregation was engrossed in a prayer session.

A member of the church, who craved anonymity, said some of the members had observed a strange man making phone calls while the vigil was on.

A Mobile Policeman a.k.a. MOPOL, knocked unconscious an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Wednesday, following an argument.
The Mobile Policemen attacked three LASTMA officials who were carrying out their legitimate duties on Ashabi Cole Street, off Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, at about 3:13 p.m., leaving one of the victims unconscious and rushed to a hospital.
Trouble started when the policemen guarding a bank located on Ashabi Cole Street, prevented the LASTMA officials from towing away the bank customer’s parked vehicle obstructing traffic.

BOWEN University students vandalize school properties to protest hike in Tuition fee

Students of Bowen University, Iwo, on Wednesday night went on the rampage while kicking against the university authorities’ plans to increase tuition fees.
The students of the private university, owned and operated by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, destroyed school property, vehicles and their chaplain’s residence.
Some of the students also complained of ‘unnecessary rules and regulations’ imposed on them by the school authorities.
While the protest that began Wednesday night continued Thursday. The students to razed down buildings, smashed cars and spread mayhem all over the university campus.

Pastor arrested for defrauding Church-member of N7m

The Pastor of Christ Citizen Glorious Assembly, Okota, Lagos, Pastor Ikechukwu Ezeiru, has been charged with fraud at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court.

He was arraigned on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding a church member, Ifeanyi Ohazurume, of N7m.

The police said Ezeiru collected the money to help the defendant purchase auction goods from the Nigerian Customs Service.

He allegedly didn’t return the money or the goods.

It was learnt that the pastor claimed to have given the money to his wife, who equally claimed to have passed it to someone else.

He was arraigned on three counts of obtaining under false pretences and stealing.

Ekiti commissioner arrested for beating up NYSC member

 

Police in Ekiti State has arrested the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Kayode Olaosebikan, for questioning over the beating up of a National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, member at a registration unit in Otun Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of the state.

Olaosebikan, who is also the Chairman, NYSC board in the state, was seen at the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, making his statement.

Olaosebikan allegedly beat up a youth corps member, Mr. Thompson Enobong, NYSC number EK/13c/1859, who is one of the NYSC members assisting INEC in the just-concluded registration.

Enobong was subsequently rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Ido Ekiti, where he is said to be receiving treatment.

18-year-old Godwin Awogbo, a 300 level student of University of Cape Coast in Central region, Ghana, studying Social Science was brutally killed. His body had been found with some his internal organs gorged out, with his hands and legs tied.
His Father Mr Fred Awogbo whose eyes were swollen, obviously due to prolonged crying, expressed many regrets as regards why he had not listened to his late son’s proprietor who had suggested that he should send his son to Canada to further his studies or better still, allow his son to weather the storm of strike actions often associated with Nigerian universities than losing him in Ghana to the cold hands of death, where he thought he was safe and he would not lose him to strange culture.

A female banker identified as Amina Magaji, who works with one of the old generation banks has reportedly defrauded the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, to the tune of N17million.

The Emir reportedly opened the account with the said bank in 1967 but left it dormant over the years and the amount in the account grew to N46million. Amina who is highly placed in the bank got tempted and deceptively requested for a cheque book, claiming it was for the emir. She started operating the account and withdraw monies from the account to the tune of N17million.

Her immediate boss eventually noticed the difference in the signature of the Emir they have in their file and that of the signature on a cheque Amina presented and alerted the authorities.

Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said that he will not partake of the N12m to be paid to each delegate to the three-month National Conference to be inaugurated by President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday (today).

Bakare, representing Ogun State at the conference, said he made the decision not to collect the money to be paid to delegates by the Federal Government in order to dispel any speculation that his motivation for accepting to take part in the conference was material.

Each of the 492 delegates to the National Conference would be paid N4m per month for the three month duration and this has been the subject of controversy with some Nigerians condemning the amount to be spent.

Announcing to his church members that he had accepted to be a delegate to the conference, Bakare told the congregation that he would be giving them weekly report as the conference progressed.

He said, “A friend of mine called me this (Sunday) morning that he heard on the radio that ‘Pastor Bakare had accepted to go, that his own fee is N12m’. Pastor Bakare will not take a kobo in the National Conference.

Covenant University Students Banned From Using Phones, Chargers & other SIM enabled Devices

 

The Covenant University, Ota, ogun state has banned its student from using or being in possession of some SIM enabled tablets or its accesories.

In a special notice published by the institution’s department of student affairs, Phones, Phone Chargers & accessories, SIM Cards, and SIM-enabled Devices (Ipad, Tecno, Samsung, and other unpopular Tab brands) were listed as prohibited items.

The notice also warned that any student caught with any of the prohibited items will be sanctioned with a 4 weeks suspension and the items confiscated.

Seven fear dead at Immigration aptitude test in Abuja (Photos)

The Nigerian Immigration Service decided to conduct a test for 3,000 vacant positions and the number of Nigerian Youths that went to the various test locations was overwhelming! Above is a collage of the crowd at the respective venues of the Immigration Service Test carried out in stadiums across the country yesterday

The Abuja stadium which is to sit not more than 60,000 people had well over 80,000 youths and only one entrance to the stadium was opened for the applicants. It's being reported that at least seven people died during a stampede at some of the venues of the poorly coordinated test. The dead are mostly from the Abuja venue. I hear a pregnant woman was among the deceased.

Nigerian soldiers battled Boko Haram members early yesterday morning in Maiduguri after members of the dreaded sect attempted to seize Giwa Barracks located in the city. This time, the soldiers came out on top as they succeeded in killing many members of the Islamic sect.

Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade released a press statement earlier today explaining what was going on...

“Pockets of terrorists apparently in a move to boost their depleted stock of fighters this morning attacked a military location in Maiduguri with a view to freeing their colleagues who are being held in detention. The attack has been successfully repelled with heavy human casualty on the terrorists. Some of the victims of the terrorists’ fired in their efforts to break into the detention facility, included those they came to rescue. Many of the terrorists and their weapons have been captured. Four soldiers were wounded and are being treated. Hot pursuits by land and air operations are ongoing along with cordon and search of surrounding localities.”

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen kill 69 in Katsina State

69 people including men, women and children were killed in separate attacks and several houses razed in 3 villages in Katsina State this week. Fulani Herdsmen have been accused of being behind the recent attack.

 A 29 year-old warder with the old Abeokuta Prisons, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Joseph Emmanuel is at present in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly assisting a prison inmate in carrying out fraudulent financial transactions, as well as using the name and documents of an illiterate taxi driver, to open a First Bank account for the inmate.

The suspect allegedly assisted the inmate whom he called ‘Ora’ to open the account, using the name of one taxi driver in his neighbourhood called Monsuru Ogunsina Adeogun”.

He took the step after he rejected the entreaties of the inmate to avail him of his account number.

Having made a promise to help the inmate with an account number, Emmanuel threw caution and his work ethics to the wind and went ahead to open an account, in the name of Adeogun, a father of four.

Gov Suswam is the architect of our clashes with Tiv-Fulani herdsmen

Fulani herdsmen on Monday accused the Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, of being the architect of the  clashes   between them and the   Tiv.

They  also claimed that they had lost 134 of their colleagues and 11,915  herds of cattle to  the clashes  in the last three months in Benue, Plateau and Taraba states.

The herdsmen, under the umbrella body known as  Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association,  specifically traced their woes   to Suswam  whom,  they claimed, stoked the hostilities  against them not only in  Benue State but in Plateau and Taraba states.
