We are responsible for the deadliest Nyanya Bomb blast-Says Shekau

The leader of Nigeria’s Boko Haram Islamists #AbubakarShekau claimed responsibility for a bombing in Nigeria’s capital that killed at least 75 people via a video message.
“We are the ones that carried out the attack in Abuja,” Shekau said in the 28-minute video, referring to the deadliest attack ever in Nigeria’s capital which targeted #Nyanya bus station packed with morning commuters.
Seated with a kalashnikov resting on his left shoulder and dressed in military uniform, the insurgent commander spoke in both Arabic and the Hausa language that is dominant in northern Nigeria.
The message was delivered to AFP in a manner consistent with previous videos from Boko Haram.
The bombing at the Nyanya bus terminal on the outskirts of Abuja was the first major attack in the capital in two years.

Police detain the DPO for alleged rape

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Onikan Station, Mr. Adekunle Awe for alleged #rape and threat to life.

Our correspondent learnt that two other policemen of the rank of inspector were also arrested as part of ongoing investigations.

A 31-year-old cook, Idowu Akinwunmi, had accused Awe of raping her in his office on April 15, 2014.

A reliable source told our correspondent on Friday that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, the Lagos State Government and other human rights groups were interested in the matter.

Drunken MOPOL assault food vendor for not selling fish for him at Obalende

Like seriously, In this shocking footage by Sahara reporters, a drunken Police officer identified as Tafa Mohammed attached to Mopol20 assaulted two women a fish seller & a customer,aiming his gun at them .
This assault which took place at Lewis Street, Lafiaji, Obalende on the Lagos Island, happened when the street food vendor refused to give him fish to finish drinking his beer .She said she only sold fish with food and not on its own..This infuriated him and he picked on a lady buying food from her,beating her and throwing her into the muddy waters..
Eyewitnesses could be heard pleading with him to leave her alone but he shot in the air ..While he did this, a second MOPOL officer watched.
The torture reportedly caused internal injuries for the victim.

Only 20 students that escapes from Boko Haram has been received-Says Principal

Nigeria’s military authorities have acknowledged that they goofed over their statement that all but eight of the 129 abducted school girls of a secondary school in Chibok, Borno state, have been freed from their Boko Haram captors.
The statement was flatly denied by the principal of the school and the parents of the girls.
A statement late on Thursday from Defence Headquarters spokesman Maj. General Chris Olukolade concurred with this.
“In the light of the denial by the principal of the school, the Defence Headquarters wishes to defer to the school principal and governor’s statement on the number of students still missing and retract (the) … earlier statement while the search continues,” Olukolade said.

The West African Examinations Council #WAEC has arrested a 20-year-old student for swindling candidates participating in the ongoing 2014 May/June Senior School Certificate Examinations.
Mr Stephen Taiwo, WAEC’s Director of Administration, said at a media briefing in Lagos that the suspect confessed to having designed a Website where he claimed to supply solutions to examination questions.
Taiwo said the council got wind of the scam through one of its members of staff, who found a poster advertising the site during a field work.
According to the director, the poster indicated the amount to be paid by interested persons and the account number to pay the money into.

Man beheads 2year Old boy and rapes his mother in Ofada Ogun state

Picture above is a middle aged man named Mamodu Bashir Ibrahim has been arrested by the Ogun State police command for behading a 2year old boy and raping the boy's mother inside an uncompleted building in a bush at Ofada town in Obafemi/Owode local government area of the State.

Reports say the man trailed the woman who was carrying her son on her back, into the bush, forced her into an uncompleted building, raped her, then stabbed her in the neck. He then cut off the little boy's head. Mad woman caught with N100,000 and 2 SmartPhones in Lagos

A woman said to be mentally-challenged escaped being lynched by an angry mob on Wednesday after she was allegedly caught with N100,000, two BlackBerry phones and an android phone.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene of the incident around Onabanjo Street, Oworonshoki, Lagos State, learnt that the incident occurred around 10am.

Residents narrates that two ATM cards were also found on the woman.

A resident, James Ogunkoya, told our correspondent that when some youths saw the woman with some money, they trailed her into a compound.

It was learnt that the youths, who suspected her of being a ritual killer,  pounced on her and beat her to a pulp.

WAEC To Ban Candidates Who Engage In Malpractice From Future Exams

The Nigerian Examinations Committee (NEC) of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has mandated the examination body to ban for a number of years, any candidate caught cheating in its annual examinations.This is one of the positions taken at the end of the 57th NEC meeting of WAEC held in Lagos.

A communiqué issued after the meeting noted that apart from the cancellation of results of cheats which has become the norm, such candidates should be restricted from future examinations.

Gunmen steal UN and Bauchi Television Hilux Vans at Gun-point

The Nigerian Police in Bauchi state said on Wednesday that gunmen had snatched two Hilux vans belonging to the United Nations following an attack on Soro town in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state. Soro town is on Bauchi – Maiduguri highway.
The Bauchi Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Haruna Mohammed, said the incident occurred on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Mohammed said that the attackers, numbering about 20, also snatched another Hilux van belonging to the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV).
He gave the registration numbers of the snatched vehicles as 206 UN, 139 UN and 04C – o4 BA, respectively.

Police D.P.O rapes female detainee in Lagos

 

A 31-year-old lady, who was detained at a divisional police station on Lagos Island, has accused the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station of raping her. The lady, identified simply as Miss Akinwunmi, alleged that the DPO, a Superintendent of Police (SP), instructed one Inspector Ajiduwe to bring her to his office for debriefing of her case.

The DPO (names withheld) allegedly pounced on the lady and raped her after Ajiduwe left the office. Akinwunmi, who claimed she was arrested on April 15, about 1am, added that she was reported to the police by her ‘madam,’ identified as Mrs Pelumi, who runs a local cafeteria at number 11, Keffi Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Soldiers free 121 Girls abducted by Boko Haram in Chibok

One hundred and twenty-one of the abducted students of the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State have been freed by troops pursuing the suspected members of the Boko Haram sect believed to have carried out the attack.
The number of the freed girls was not disclosed.  
According to a statement issued by the Director Defence Information and Coordinator, Major-General Chris Olukolade, some 129 students were abducted on Monday night by a group of terrorists.

15 out of 200 secondary school girls kidnapped escapes from Boko Haram

Reports reaching us from online news website Saharareporters is that 15 out of the 100+ girls kidnapped Monday night by Boko Haram men, at Girls Government School, Chibok, Borno state, have escaped.

 

The girls were said to have made their escape when one of the lorries used in transporting them broke down along the road. The girls jumped down from the lorry and ran into the bush around them.

 

One of the girls who fled told AFP that they escaped when the men were trying to fix the vehicle.

"They tried to fix it. It was at this moment that some of us jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the bush".

Meanwhile reports say Military personnel are currently combing the bushes in Borno state, using the trye tracks of the vehicles used by the Boko Harm men.

See How Obanikoro soiled his hands in Ondo Election

 

A stakeholder meeting called by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ondo State, almost degenerated into fisticuffs on Tuesday as the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Akin Orebiyi, hinted that the commission had a report which showed that the Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, had “his hands soiled” during the election .

Commenting on the conduct of politicians, Orebiyi said, “We are aware of how Obanikoro even soiled his hands obstructing the electoral process. You can quote me anywhere. You can quote me anywhere…”

Members of the PDP at the meeting were angered by the statement, saying they took exceptions to the assertions of the REC.

 Police have apprehended two gangsters for allegedly raping and killing an 18-year-old commercial sex worker, Oluwatosin Ami.The suspects, John-Paul Chukwuebuka, 19; and Ebuka Chimudi, 22; belonged to a gang which specialised in luring young ladies to hotels with the aim of dispossessing them of their belongings and raping them.

According to police authorities, on April 10, 2013, two members of the gang posed as customers and visited the Happy Day Hotel, Orile.Oluwatosin was approached by the suspects and she took them into her room at the hotel which she secured at the cost of N3, 500 per day.The suspects were said to have overpowered Oluwatosin and stuffed a cloth in her mouth to prevent her from screaming.

Boko Haram abducts 103 secondary school girls in Borno

According to SaharaReporters  suspected members of the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, have abducted 103 students in a daring raid at the Girls Secondary School in Chibok, a town on the border between Borno and Adamawa States.

The group’s assault on the all-female high school took place on Monday night. A security source disclosed that members of the extremist Islamist group killed a soldier guarding the school and inflicted injuries on several villagers before abducting the students.

The police commissioner in Borno State, Lawan Tanko, confirmed the kidnapping of the students to reporters in the state.
