Nyanya Bombing mastermind arrested in Sudan

Another Nyanya bomber has been arrested. Abubakar Sadiq Ogwuche (pictured above) was arrested today in Sudan where he was hiding after the Federal government placed a N25m reward on his head. He was arrested by Interpol with help from DSS and will be extradited to Nigeria to face charges of terror. This makes it a total of six suspects so far arrested. DSS on Monday paraded five suspects.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned the duo of Nnanna Kalu, 26 and Ukaegbu Arisa Oti, 27, before Justice F. A. Olubanjo of the Federal High Court Umuahia, Abia State on a 28-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretense and forgery.

The two are alleged to be part of a five-man syndicate that defrauded one Michael J. Firm (a South African) of the sum of $60,000 (sixty thousand dollars) under the pretense of registering his company with National Agency for Foods Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to enable it supply the Federal Ministry of Defence with pre-cooked meals in sachets.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, The American Senator, John McCain disrespected President Jonathan when he said American forces should #BringBackOurGirls—even if the Nigerian government says no.
According to him, if he were the American president, he would already be doing several things to respond to the kidnapping of the over 200 girls by the Nigerian terrorist group that the Obama administration has so far declined to do.
McCain told The Daily Beast Tuesday:

“If they knew where they were, I certainly would send in U.S. troops to rescue them, in a New York minute I would, without permission of the host country. I wouldn’t be waiting
for some kind of permission from some guy named Goodluck Jonathan,” he added, referring to the president of Nigeria.

A 13-year-old Junior Secondary II student of Government Secondary School Gboko, Dooyum Moar, and another female student of Gboko High School, narrowly escaped being beheaded by a ritualist after they were kidnapped by a commercial vehicle operator in Makurdi.

It was gathered from the elated father of one of the victims, Mr. Ephraim Maor, that he had on Monday morning taken his son to the Wurukum motor park in Makurdi, where he boarded a vehicle to Gboko to resume school.

He said: “I had put him in the commercial vehicle which had other passengers and was heading to Gboko, a trip that was less than 80 kilometres from Makurdi.

“I gathered from my son that when they were less than five kilometres to Gboko town, at Yandev, the driver said his vehicle developed a fault.

I have said it times without number that not until Nigerian begin to reshape their destiny themselves, nobody is going to make it better, virtually all the arms of government has been compromised to the extent that we couldn't benefit anything as a citizens.

The rise of the civilians against terror took the Boko Haram saga to a new turn in the early hours of Tuesday morning when citizens of Rann, headquarters of Kala-Balge local government area, Borno northeast, who had fore-knowledge of an impending Boko Haram attack, decided not to remain sitting ducks but prepared for battle.

According to reports we received from Civilian sources in Borno, over 400 Boko Haram terrorists stormed Rann and neighboring villages in the early hours of Tuesday, with their usual convoy of hilux trucks, motorcycles and APC (Armored Personnel Carriers) only to meet villagers ready for them this time. The civilian villagers pounced on the terrorists with mere rocks, bows and arrows, local Dane guns, swords and “charms,” but as we have earlier reported, Boko Haram are more frightened of Civilian-JTF than they are of the Nigerian army, and run from the civilians even if they - the civilians only have knives

The battle raged till the sun came up and ended with the civilians killing over 200 Boko Haram terrorists, capturing several prisoners and recovering several of their vehicles.

The Nigerian government has rejected conditions set out by Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau for the release of more than 200 schoolgirls held hostage by the dreaded sect. Asked if the government would reject the suggestion mentioned by Shekau in a new video that the girls may be released once Nigeria frees all militant prisoners, Interior Minister Abba Moro told AFP:

"Of course! The issue in question is not about Boko Haram... giving conditions," he said.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is willing to make a proposition in exchange for the missing Nigerian schoolgirls.
The militant group has released footage of the kidnapped young women converting to Islam, wearing headscarves and praying. In the chilling video, Shekau says they’re willing to give back the 276 young women in exchange for their imprisoned partners.
One part of the video even shows a girl reciting an Islamic prayer.

According to the BBC, three girls speak in the video, including two who said they’ve converted to Islam from Christianity.

“These girls, these girls you occupy yourselves with… we have indeed liberated them. These girls have become Muslims,” Shekau said in the video. “We will never release them until after you release our brethren.”

The Nigeria Football and other Sports Supporters Club (NFSSC) on Monday demanded for the provision of N62 million condoms for fans attending the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Rafiu Ladipo, President-General of NFSSC, who made the demand in Abuja, appealed to the United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS) to take the demand very seriously.
Ladipo’s appeal came on the heels of assurance by Bilali Camara, UNAIDS Country Director, that two million condoms would be provided for the entire duration of the 2014 World Cup.
He said instead of two million for the entire duration, UNAIDS should provide two million condoms each day for the 31-day tournament.

THE Department of State Service has arrested five persons in connection with the April 14, 2014 bomb blast at the El-Rufai Motor Park, Nyanya in Abuja.

The suspects are Ahmad Abubakar (aka Abu Ibrahim/Maiturare), Mohammed Ishaq, Yau Saidu (aka Kotar Rama), Anas Isah and Adamu Yusuf.

The DSS Deputy Director, Public Relations, Marilyn Ogar, who paraded the suspects in Abuja on Monday, said the masterminds of the blast, Rufai Tsiga (aka Dr. Tsiga), and a military deserter, Aminu Ogwuche, had been declared wanted.

Ogar announced a cash reward of N25m for information that could lead to their arrest.

She also explained that Ogwuche with service number SVC 95/104 served in the intelligence unit of the Nigeria Army at Child Avenue, Arakan Barracks, Lagos between 2001 and 2006 and was posted to the Nigerian Defence Academy in 2006.

Boko Haram inherited $3m from Osama Bin Laden

The violent sect, Boko Haram and other groups in northern Nigeria received $3m from Osama bin Laden in 2002, according to a report by some United States intelligence analysts.

Bin Laden was said to have dispatched an aide to Nigeria to hand out the seed money in naira to a wide array of Salafist political organisations that shared al Qaeda’s goal of imposing Islamic rule.

According to a report in a United States-based newspaper, The Daily Beast, the Al-Qaeda founder helped provide Boko Haram’s seed money.

Boko Haram was founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002. Yusuf was killed in police custody in 2009.

The Daily Beast reported on Sunday that officially, the U.S. intelligence community believed that the sect had only tangential links to al Qaeda’s North African affiliate, and that reports of bin Laden backing

The Police in Taraba on Sunday in Jalingo said gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked Dinya village in Gassol Local Government Council of the state and killed four persons.
ASP Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba Police Command, who confirmed the incident while briefing journalists, said the gunmen also set 30 houses on fire.
“The police, on arrival at the scene of the attack, recovered 13 empty shells of AK47 rifle, four cartridges and an assault rifle,” he said.
Kwaji said that detachments of the police and army had been drafted to the area, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Nigerian Immigration narrates their own side of the story as Davido Claims of harrassment

Some days ago, Davido tweeted that he missed his flight to London because of immigration officers who were harassing him at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja because of money. The Nigerian Immigration Service has responded to Davido's claims.

In a statement released by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Emeka Obua, they said Davido had approached immigration officers at MMIA on the fateful day with the intention of travelling out of the country and presented a US passport number 460918874 issued at Georgia on Dec. 14, 2009 and valid till December 14, 2019.

Former NAFDAC DG and Nigeria’s former minister of information,Prof Dora Akunyili, is critically ill and is set to be flown to India Saturday night, May 10, 2014.
According to reports by Scoop, the former NAFDAC boss is having serious health issues and has been advised by her doctor to leave for India immediately.
Akunyili, who is a delegate in the ongoing National Conference CONFAB, was just recovering from a serious ailment which she suffered from late last year into this year.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said Sunday in Abuja that he was very optimistic that with the entire international community deploying its considerable military and intelligence-gathering skills and assets in support of Nigeria’s efforts to find and rescue the abducted Chibok girls, success will soon be achieved.
Speaking in a telephone conversation with the Israeli Prime Minister, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu who called this afternoon to convey his country’s sympathy and solidarity with Nigeria, President Jonathan welcomed the offer by Mr. Netanyahu to send a team of Israeli counter-terrorism experts to assist in the ongoing search and rescue operations.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a popular Abuja socialite who is also a top official of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Dr (Mrs) Imaobong Akon Esu-Nte.

The suspect, a Grade Level 14 Officer with the Federal Ministry of Finance seconded to the Nigerian Prison Service as Head, Capital Accounts, was picked up Tuesday May 6 by operatives of the anti graft agency. And for several hours, she was grilled by investigators over allegations bordering on corruption, abuse of office and money laundering.

EFCC officials said they received tip-off regarding the suspect’s lifestyle which was inconsistent with her position as a public servant on a monthly salary of N121, 460 ($751).

The suspect owns several exotic cars and properties scattered over the (Federal Capital Territory) Abuja. Among her properties is a palatial mansion, a duplex with two-bedroom Boys Quarters at Sun City Estate, Abuja and another duplex at Karu Extension, Abuja, which is nearing completion.

Three luxury automobiles were recovered from her at the time of arrest. They include a Mercedes Benz ML 350 4matic wagon, Mercedes Benz GL 500 SUV and a Toyota Sienna.

Boko Haram Bomb Nigeria linking bridge to Cameroon

The bombing and destruction of a small bridge linking Nigeria to Cameroon in Borno State today has caused mass destruction and confusion, killing at least 30 people!

According to SaharaReporters, the bombing occurred on the outskirts of Gamboru Ngala, site of a Monday Boko Haram attack that claimed the lives of over 300 village residents. The bridge links the immigration check points of both Cameroon and Nigeria.

The bombing event took place on the same day of a mass burial in the town of Gamboru Ngala. It was there on Monday where a Boko Haram-led raid on the small village claimed the lives of over 300 residents, nearly ten per cent of the population.

Sources tell SaharaReporters that 315 people of the 336 who died in the Monday attack were buried in a solemn ceremony led by civic and religious leaders.

Obama sent Military, Law enforcement and other security Teams to Nigeria,

US President Barack Obama on Tuesday described the kidnapping of more than 220 schoolgirls by Islamists in Nigeria as “heartbreaking” and “outrageous” as Washington deployed military experts in the hunt for the children.
Obama urged global action against Boko Haram and confirmed Nigerian leaders had accepted an offer to deploy US personnel there, soon after residents said the extremist group had seized eight more girls, aged between 12 and 15, again in the embattled northeast.
The first group of girls were taken three weeks ago, and concerns have been mounting about their fate after Boko Haram chief Abubakar Shekau claimed responsibility, saying his group was holding the schoolgirls as “slaves” and threatening to “sell them in the market”.
Speaking to US broadcaster ABC, Obama said: “It’s a heartbreaking situation, outrageous situation.”
“This may be the event that helps to mobilize the entire international community to finally do something against this horrendous organization that’s perpetrated such a terrible crime,” he added.
The team sent to Nigeria consists of “military, law enforcement, and other agencies”, Obama said, and will work to “identify where in fact these girls might be and provide them help”.

The latest kidnappings also took place in Borno state, a stronghold of the Islamist group.
Abdullahi Sani, a resident of Warabe, said gunmen had moved “door to door, looking for girls” late on Sunday.
“They forcefully took away eight girls between the ages of 12 and 15,” he said, in an account confirmed by other witnesses.
He said the attackers did not kill anyone, which was “surprising”, and suggested that abducting girls was the motive for the attack.
Another Warabe resident, Peter Gombo, told AFP that the military and police had not yet deployed to the area.
“We have no security here. If the gunmen decide to pick our own girls, nobody can stop them.”

Unknown gunmen snatched a school bus belonging to Vines International Academy at gun-point from the driver of the bus while he was cleaning it at the entrance of the school

The Nigerian police released a statement some hours ago, saying that not only have they recovered the bus, they have also arrested two suspects (pictured above).
