EFCC arraigns Bureau De Change Manager for $50k fraud
The
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, October 20, 2014
arraigned one Abubakar Abdullahi before Justice Dije Aboki of Kano
State High Court on one count charge of criminal breach of trust.
The
accused, who is the manager of Maisabulu Bureau de Change, Kano, had
sometime in April, 2013 upon the instruction of his employer, Alhaji
Kabiru Maisabulu, the managing director of Maisabulu Bureau de Change
purchased the sum of 50,000 United States dollars from the Central Bank
of Nigeria on behalf of one Bello Sani Yakassai of Misau Bureau de
Change but, converted the said sum for his personal use.
Armed Robbers kill Pastor in Church during operation in Ogun State
60-year-old pastor, Mr. Joseph Adebo, has been killed by armed robbers who unleashed terror on residents of Oke Ela area in Ilaro, Ogun State.
learnt that the pastor was shot in the chest and his left arm by the robbers. It was further gathered that Adebo was pastor in charge of a Pentecostal church situated at Powerline, Oke Ela in Ilaro.
Our correspondent learnt that the robbery gang, whose number has yet to be ascertained, stormed the area around 3am of Saturday, October 4. They were said to have fired several gunshots into the air to scare the residents as they went from one apartment to the other, dispossessing residents of their valuables.

Things are no longer the same,things are getting worse-Gov Amaechi Laments
Nearly eight months to the expiration of his term in office, the Rivers State Governor and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Chibuike Amaechi, has called on Rivers people to choose a credible successor that will take over from him on May 29, 2015.
Mr. Amaechi stated this, Sunday, during an Inter-Denominational Church Service marking the 54th Independence Day Anniversary held at the St. Cyprians Anglican Church in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
He maintained that the era of imposition of candidates on the people is over and advised Rivers people to choose wisely by embracing democratic values and actively participating in the electoral process.
According to him, “Rivers people have a right to choose who will lead them in 2015, in a free and fair election, they have the mandate to do so.”
Obasanjo to goes back to School,Enrol at National Open University
Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, is set to go back to school for a higher degree in Christian Theology.Mr. Obasanjo will on Tuesday formally enrol as a graduate student at the headquarters of the National Open University of Nigeria in Lagos.
Having obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in 2009, Mr. Obasanjo will now be working towards a doctorate degree, beginning first with a Masters degree, an associate of the former president told PREMIUM TIMES.
When contacted Monday night, Mr. Obasanjo confirmed he was returning to school.
He said it was important for him to make some commitments towards achieving his aspirations in life.

Enugu State University of Technology Hostel Attacked By Cultists, 3 Students Shot
A hostel at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Agbani has been attacked by suspected cultists last Friday leaving about three students with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.
The injured students are currently
undergoing intensive surgery at the University of Nigeria Teaching
Hospital (UNTH) where they were rushed in the early hours of Saturday.
One of the students was shot in the
stomach and it was suspected that some pellets of the bullet were lodged
in his abdomen for which doctors are battling to remove while the two
other victims were also undergoing surgery at the hospital.

13 more Soldiers to face trial for Negligence of duty
There were indications in Abuja on
Thursday that the authorities of the Nigerian Army might soon arraign
13 soldiers for cowardice and failure to obey orders from their
superiors to advance at the (war) front.
Investigations revealed that the soldiers
directed to join their counterparts at the 7 Division, entrusted with
the responsibility of coordinating the on going counter-terrorism
operation in the North-East early in the year.
It was gathered that the General Court
Martial set up to handle the cases emanating from the on-going
operation led by Brig. Gen. CC Okonkwo will hear the cases against
the soldiers .
A military source, who made this known in Abuja, did not give the exact date for the hearing of the cases.
He said that the soldiers ‘’failed to
advance when an order was given to them to do so.” Their action,
according to him, was against military laws.
It was learnt that the affected soldiers had all been moved to the Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, which is the venue of the GCM.
One of the Freed Chibok Girls is four month pregnant
The freed Chibok girl, who was
found Wednesday evening is said to be four months pregnant. The chairman of Chibok
community in Abuja confirmed this and said there were also signs on her that showed she was
not only sexually abused, but was also physically abused.
She is actually one of our daughters abducted from Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok. She was found in Mubi where her abductors dumped her and was later taken to Yola, the girl is four months pregnant, he said. Just sad!
Former NURTW Chairman shot dead in Ekiti
Former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and die-hard fan of Ekiti Governor Elect , Mr. Omolafe Aderiye has been shot dead.Residents told SaharaReporters late evening that Aderiye was killed by unknown gunmen at Ijigbo area in Ado Ekiti.
Mr. Aderiye was on his way home when the gunmen numbering about four accosted and shot him at close range.Mr. Aderiye, a staunch supporter of Governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose was part of Mr. Fayose’s team that attacked a state high court judge earlier in the day.
The alleged thugs attacked Justice John Adeyeye, beating him up and ripping his clothes for being allegedly rude to Fayose. Fayose, first slapped the judge and then ordered his thugs to beat him further
