Court Sentence Fake Soldier to 7yrs Imprisonment for Job Scam

Justice P.I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Benin, Edo State yesterady convicted and sentenced one Emmanuel Sunday (alias Umoh Sunday Iyang, Iyang Samuel Chukwudi) to seven and half years imprisonment without an option of fine for obtaining money under false pretense. The convict was arraigned by the Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 19, 2014 on an 8-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence. He pleaded not guilty to the count charge. After diligent prosecution, Justice Ajoku found him guilty on the 5-count amended charge and sentenced him to thirty months imprisonment each of the counts. The court also ordered that the convict forfeit his two (2) phones to the Federal Government.

Nigerian Troops Clears Mubi of Boko Haram Insurgents

 The Nigerian Troops have completed the operation to clear Mubi, Adamawa State of terrorists who had mischievously renamed the town ‘Madina’ and operated in the town and the environs. A mop-up operation is nevertheless ongoing to apprehend and deal with those who might be lurking around neighbouring communities.

Members of the terrorists group were dislodged after coordinated air and land operations in the area.

More special troops are being deployed to other areas in the North-East axis in similar coordinated air and land operations to rid the communities of terrorists’ activities.

Govs Akpabio, Babangida, Yuguda Others Meets Obasanjo Over GEJ

 

Five Peoples Democratic Party governors led by the Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, and governor, Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting, which lasted for three hours, with the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Other governors on the trip are the governors of Bauchi, Jigawa, Cross River, and Niger states, Isa Yuguda, Sule Lamido, Liyel Imoke and Babangida Aliyu respectively.

The governors arrived Obasanjo’s residence around 12.30pm and emerged from the inner chamber at exactly 3.30pm.

Bomb Blast hits Kano Central Mosque

Scores of people are feared dead in an explosion at the Kano Central Mosque on Friday.
The bomb blast, which occurred around 2pm while the Jumat service was going on, was heard in most parts of the city.
Jumaat  prayer session was brought to a halt as thousands of worshipers scampered for safety and security men were seen trying to control the situation with little success The central mosque is behind the Emir’s palace. The Emir, Mallam Sanusi, was out of the country when the incident occurred but one of his sons narrowly escaped the blast, according to sources.

Bomb Blast Kills 40 including 5 Military Personnel in Yola,Adamawa State

Bomb blast in northeast Nigeria bus station killed 40 people including five army personnels in YOLA Adamawa State, Nigeria (Reuters) - A roadside bomb tore through a bus station near a busy junction in northeast Nigeria on Thursday, killing 40 people including five soldiers, witnesses and a local hunter on the scene said. The security source and witness Abubakar Adamu, a mechanic who narrowly avoided being blown up himself, said the blast set several buses on fire at the Marabi-Mubi junction, in a part of the country plagued by violence linked to the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency.

Obasanjo Slams Jonathan for Promoting Corruption in Nigeria

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo rubbishes President GoodLuck Jonathan yesterday 26th of Nov for promoting corruption and failing to handle the insurgency that is troubling the North-Eastern part of the country. He made this known at the launching of  books by a former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, retired Justice Mustapha Akanbi. Obasanjo was the chairman of the occasion. He also took a sipe at the National Assembly for promoting corruption in the country.

He said the increasing corruption under Jonathan had damaged the economy, warning that “in the future, we will have a budget that cannot be funded.”

FCT Taskforce Arrests 492 Commercial Sex workers and 128 miscreants -FCT Minister Bala Muhammed

 

The special taskforce set up by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to clean up Abuja has secured the conviction and sentencing of 25 operators of “Okada” motorcycles to jail without the option of fines.

FCT Minister Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed made this disclosure earlier yesterday during a briefing in Gwarimpa I District (Life-Camp), Abuja. Present at the briefing were the FCT Police Commissioner, a representative of the Commandant of Brigade of Guards, commandants of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) respectively, Director of the Directorate of State Security Services, the FCT Comptroller of Prisons as well as the Directors of the FCT Operational Departments.Mr. Mohammed revealed that

Boko Haram Slaughters 48 Fish Trader Near Chad

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed 48 fish vendors after setting up a roadblock near the country’s border with Chad, the head of the fish traders association told the Agence France-Presse on Sunday.

“Scores of Boko Haram fighters blocked a route linking Nigeria with Chad near the fishing village of Doron Baga on the shores of Lake Chad on Thursday and killed a group of 48 fish traders on their way to Chad to buy fish,” AFP quoted Abubakar Gamandi, head of the fish traders association, as saying.

Gamandi said the attackers set up a barricade at Dogon Fili, 15 kilometres from Doron Baga in Borno State, and stopped a convoy of fish vendors around midday, slaughtering some of them and drowning others in the lake.
