Gen TY Danjuma calls for arrest of Asari Dokubo,Tompolo and others

 

In response to the threat message issued by former militant leaders in Bayelsa sometimes ago, 

A former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), has called for the arrest of an ex-Niger Delta militants, including Mujahideen   Dokubo-Asari and Government Ekpudomenowei(akaTompolo)   for   threatening to declare war against the nation if President Goodluck loses the February 14 election.

Danjuma, who described the threat as “unguarded and reckless,” warned that “miscreants” must not be allowed to hold the country by the jugular.

Dokubo-Asari, had at a meeting on Friday at the Bayelsa State Government House, Yenagoa, urged an end to what he termed, the intimidation of the Ijaw by other Nigerians.

Labaran Maku is an ingrate, a Liar-Ahmadu Ali

President Goodluck Jonathan; President of the Senate, David Mark; and a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmadu Ali, on Tuesday lashed out at a former Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, for dumping the PDP for the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

While Jonathan described Maku’s action as anti-party, Mark said the former minister was a liar while Ali described him as an ingrate.

They spoke at the Lafia Township Stadium during the PDP presidential rally.

Jonathan said there was no truth in the former minister’s claim that he (the President) encouraged him to join APGA.

The President said he could not be involved in anti-party activities.

Jonathan said he did not at any time have any discussion with him.

Soldiers Mistakenly open fire on Gov Shettima's convoy

Troops in Maiduguri, Borno State, ‘mistakenly’ opened fire on the convoy of Governor Kashim Shettima   as it approached a military garrison near the airport.

Shettima was on his way to visit   soldiers, who were wounded in the simultenous Boko Haram   attacks on Maiduguri, Monguno and Kodunga when the incident occurred on Monday.

Security sources, according to SaharaReporters, said   the governor’s protocol unit was to blame for the incident as it   failed to notify the military authorities about Shettima’s intention to visit the military facility on Monday evening.

The campaign billboards of two Nigerian presidential candidates erected in Ghana’s capital, Accra have been pulled down following an order by the country’s (Ghana) national security agency.

The billboards of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party featuring President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as those of the main opposition All Progressives Congress of Muhammadu Buhari, located on Accra roads, were pulled down over the weekend by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

Nigerian Military recovers Rocket launcher,APC and other arms from Boko Haram

Gunshots boomed again in Monguno, Borno State on Monday as   troops, backed by fighter jets, launched a major offensive to recapture the city from militant islamist sect, Boko Haram.

“The operation resumed on Monguno this (Monday) morning through air bombardment to dislodge the insurgents,” a Defence Headquarters source told Reuters news agency.

The source made this known as the death toll from the foiled bid by the sect to capture Maiduguri is believed to have risen from 65 to 100.

The sect had launched   simultaneous attacks on   Maiduguri, Monguno, Kodunga and Gubio on Sunday. While its fighters were repelled in Maiduguri, Gubio and Kodunga, they overran Monguno after soldiers who   engaged them in gun battle retreated.

The wife of the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has said her husband, General Buhari, will be guided by provisions of the Nigerian Constitution in all of his actions.

Mrs. Buhari said this in an interview with newsmen shortly after the inaugural meeting of APC Women Presidential Campaign Initiative, in Abuja, on Saturday.

National Security Adviser wants Feb 14 Election Postponed

The National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki(retd.), has canvassed the postponement of next month’s elections to give the Independent National Electoral Commission time to distribute over 30 million outstanding Permanent Voter Cards to registered voters.

Dasuki, according to Reuters, said he had told the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega,   that a postponement within the three months allowed by the law, would be a good idea.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari has addressed the issue of his ‘missing’ certificates.

Buhari spoke about his credentials today, January 21, during a press conference in Kano State.

Gunmen murder pregnant daughter of Gov. Almakura’s campaign manager

 

Unidentified gunmen have beheaded Mrs. Amina Suleiman, the daughter of the Director General of Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al – Makura’s Campaign Organisation, Mr. Musa Illu.

It was learnt that the deceased, who was seven months pregnant, was assassinated on Monday in her home in Katsina State.

It was gathered that her husband, Mr. Mohammed Suleiman, was on his way to Zaria at the time of the incident.

Speaking with our correspodent in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Illu’s younger brother, Namairo Babai, said late Amina was found in a pool of blood.

Bayelsa Youth Vows to disgrace Patience Jonathan in Bayelsa rally

Again, some Bayelsa State youths have issued a stern warning to the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, not to visit the state during the Peoples Democratic Party presidential rally on February 5.

The youths from Bayelsa creeks, under the auspices of the Mangrove Boys of Bayelsa, warned on Tuesday that if the First Lady failed to heed their warning, she would be thoroughly disgraced and have herself to blame.

The warning came a few days after the Bayelsa Youth Vanguard issued a similar statement barring Patience from attending the proposed rally.

Boko Haram kidnaps 60 people in Cameroun

FG reduces Petrol Price to 87

Federal Government yesterday sunday 18th of Jan announced a reduction in the pump price of petrol by N10 from N97 to N87 per litre.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, announced the reduction while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Alison-Madueke said the reduction, which took immediate effect, was because of the recent drastic fall in the prices of crude oil in the international market.

227 Soldiers Protest Unlawful Dismissal

According to Leadership, the protesting soldiers led by Sergeant Abiona Elisha stormed the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Plateau state secretariat yesterday January 16th, holding placards calling for their reinstatement into the army.

According to their leader, they were dismissed from the Army on Tuesday January 13th after being called from their various operation units to face a panel at the barracks and without being given any fair hearing or told what their offenses were.

Some of the soldiers alleged that their refusal to fight members of Boko Haram in October 2014 led to their dismissal.
