78 Boko Haram members killed in Biu- Says Defence Headquarters

Nigerian soldiers78 members of Boko Haram have been killed in a two-hour gun battle with Nigerian troops in Biu, Borno State, military authorities say.
The terrorists invaded the community on Wednesday, January 14, and made attempts to capture a military base in the area but were repelled by the army.
15 Chadians were reportedly among the terrorists killed while two anti-Aircraft Guns were recovered from the enemy.

When queried about the attack, Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade told Vanguard:
“What is important now is for us to consolidate on the victory, recapture areas where the terrorists are presently operating and restore peace to the entire north east.”
Olukolade had earlier stated that “mopping-up operations” were going on in the area to rid it of terrorists.
