An article which was published by Punch has been receiving attention from the readers, the article which criticizes the APC presidential flag bearer for not involving his wife Mrs Aishat Buhari in campaign and the scarping of the of office of the first Lady, however a reader reacted to the article and below is the piece from Adewuyi Adegbite.
I have just read Abimbola Adelakun’s
piece on the above title. I want to believe that the writer is just
looking for faults where none exists. If Buhari forgets to remove his
cap at an interdenominational service, even if during a church service,
ushers
should have told him respectfully to remove his cap. If he
refuses, then it becomes an issue. Then, the issue of whether or not he
goes out with his wife should not be blown beyond proportion. The reason
being that this is a personal issue and the man’s religious tenets
might not favour such a practice.
When the late Alhaji Ahmadu Bello
implored his contemporaries in the nationalist struggle to understand
their differences-cultural diversity of this nation, but not merely know
it, this is what he meant. And I want the writer to note this also.
Buhari’s photo with his family will show him a good family man but that
is not enough. The issues at hand are beyond this; how we are going to
solve the myriad of problems facing this nation should be the priority.
Let us try and showcase the good sides of our candidates irrespective of
ethnic/religious differences.

The office of the First Lady is not
constitutional. It was the former dictator, Ibrahim Babangida, who
created the office. If Buhari is not exposing the wife to politics, that
does not mean women will not be recognised.
Please, don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.
