Chad's President, Idriss Deby has revealed details about the new leader of Boko Haram who supposedly replaced the now-absent Abubakar Shekau.Deby made the disclosure on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, while speaking about Nigeria’s plans to negotiate with the sect during a ceremony to commemorate Chad’s 55 year of independence.
He said:
“There is someone
apparently called Mahamat Daoud who is said to have replaced Abubakar
Shekau and he wants to negotiate with the Nigerian government. For my
part, I would advise not to negotiate with a terrorist.”

Deby, on his part, expressed optimism that the fight against Boko Haram would be finished “by the end of the year”.
