The
Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has thrown out an appeal filed by
governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state challenging the verdict of the
Rivers tribunal that nullified his election.
Delivering the judgment, Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem held that the election of Nyesom Wike did not conform with the electoral act.

The tribunal headed by Justice Suleiman Ambrosa had in a judgment on October 24, 2015, nullified Wike’s election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct fresh election.
Wike had challenged
the verdict of the tribunal, as he filed an appeal at the Court of
Appeal, asking the court to set aside the judgment of the Rivers
state governorship election tribunal which voided his election.
