Boko-Haram Strike Again in Banki, Borno State

Less than a week after the Maiduguri Boko-Haram attact, the outlawed Boko Haram sect attacked Banki, a border town in Bama Local Government Area of Bornu State killing people at will, moment after they sacked the only police station in the town.

Though details of the number of casualties was not available as of the time of filing this report, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Lawan Tanko, told journalists that the terrorists killed a policeman and injured many people.

PRESIDENT JONATHAN APPROVES CHANGES IN MILITARY HIGH COMMAND

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria approved the following changes in the nation’s Military High Command:

Air Marshal Alex Badeh takes over from Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim as Chief of Defence Staff;

Major-General Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah takes over from Lt.-General Azubike O. Ihejirika as Chief of Army Staff;

Rear Admiral Usman O. Jibrin takes over from Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba as Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Vice Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu takes over from Air Marshal Badeh as Chief of Air Staff.

All the changes are with immediate effect.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Monday alerted the public on reports of fake Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) e-facility cards in circulation in Lagos.
Alhaji Kamaldeen Oladeji, the Coordinator of the Board in Lagos, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Oladeji said that the board’s annex in Lagos had been informed that some persons were selling fake e-facility cards for the board’s 2014 UTME.

A car bomb has exploded in the Nigerian city of Maiduguri, and there are fears of many casualties.

Blood-spattered people were seen fleeing and vehicles crashed into each other, while soldiers fired automatic weapons.
A suicide bomber is suspected of being behind the blast, reportedly near a market.
The Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, has carried out numerous attacks in the region.
Its campaign of violence is aimed at imposing Islamic rule in northern Nigeria.
The military confirmed to the BBC that an explosion had occurred, but did not give a figure for casualties.
An eyewitness said he had seen what appeared to be dead bodies on the ground, and another spoke of seven fatalities.
A second car is reported to have been set on fire by the blast. Details are still sketchy.
