More PDP Governors to defect to APC-Says Gov Wamako

Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State has said more governors have concluded plans to join the All Progressives Congress.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Wamakko, who did not mention the names of the governors and their states, made the statement on Saturday in Wamakko after the conduct of ward congresses in Wamakko Local Government Area.

He said the ward congresses were held to ratify the consensus decision taken by the party’s candidates in the 23 local government areas of the state.

Sen Iyiola Omisore emerges the PDP torch bearer for Osun Gubernatorial

Senator Iyiola Omisore on Saturday emerged the torch bearer of the PDP for the 9 August governorship election in the western Nigerian state of Osun.
Alhaji Adamu Aliero, the Chairman of the Gubernatorial Primary Organising Committee, announced the result after the collation of the delegates’ votes.
Aliero said Omisore polled 1,128 votes to beat Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, who polled 35 votes and Mr Wole Oke, who got five votes.
Sen. Adetunji Adeleke, a former governor of the state, had on Friday withdrawn from the contest.
Aliero said that 18 voided votes were recorded in the election.

Prophet in Police custody for fake prophecy

  56year old Alphonsus Ezie, a prophet  with the Celestial Church of Christ Igando District, Lagos State has been arrested and remanded in prison by the police for tricking his congregation with a false prophecy, PM news reports.

Prophet Ezie had on a Sunday service prophesied seeing some members of his congregation traveling to Netherland for greener pastures and coming back home successful. He asked all those interested in making the prophecy fulfilled in their lives to meet with his friend, Mr Samuel, a travel agent, to help them with their travel papers. The deceased, Ngozi Eze, 35, reportedly went to see off a friend on March 9, 2014 and was on her way back when her assailants  accosted her in a bush path,gang-raped her and strangled her to death. And as  if that was not enough, her breasts and private part were  chopped  off.

Efforts of the community neighborhood watch led by one Mr. Onyema Ossai, to  unravel the circumstances  surrounding Ngozi’s murder, reportedly led to the apprehension of  four men suspected to be behind the dastardly act.

Ritualist den uncover in Ogun state,angry youth on rampage

There was pandemonium in the Akinremi Estate, Adigbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday as some youths in the area discovered a secret baby factory in a vicinity known as Vulcaniser Bus Stop. The incident comes barely two weeks after eight women were rescued from a baby factory in Akute area of the state.

“When the youths heard of the Thursday incident, they took the law into their hands. They set the place ablaze, but policemen attached to the Quick Response Squad stopped them from doing more damage. The youths refused to leave until the police fired teargas canisters.

“The place was uncovered in the wee hours of Thursday when one of the victims escaped and ran into a nearby building. She pleaded with the residents to save her from her assailants.

Politics-FG distrupts Gov Fashola Housing scheme

The Federal Government has stopped the Ilubirin Foreshore Housing Project being embarked upon by Governor Babatunde Fashola.
Governor Fashola disclosed this Wednesday at an event marking his 2,500 days in office at the Lagos Television Ground, Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
The governor said his administration had sandfilled the area to build about 1,800 housing units under the Lagos Homes Ownership Mortgage Scheme, HOMS.

It was a frame -up because the lady has refused to honour police invitation. And the doctor's report available to us has shown that she was not raped. We're made to understand that this lady on her own went to Obesere's house in search of Obesere, that she spent the nights there. She was there cooking and everybody in the house ate.

Court Orders 37 defected PDP house of Rep members to resign

The 37 PDP House of Representatives members who defected to APC in December 2013 have been ordered to vacate their seats and the House.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja gave the order yesterday while delivering judgment in a suit filed against the defected lawmakers by the PDP. The judge said the lawmakers no longer had any business, morally and legally in the Assembly and so should resign.

Court jailed 23yr Old man for attempting to kill Pres Obama

An Idaho man who admitted trying to assassinate President Barack Obama by shooting at the White House received a 25-year prison sentence on Monday.
Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, 23, appeared in federal court after pleading guilty in September to terrorism and weapons charges. He had been originally indicted on 17 criminal counts.
Prosecutors had charged Ortega-Hernandez with firing a Romanian-made assault rifle out of the window of his car the evening of 11 November, 2011.
After sending a number of rounds toward the White House, he sped away toward a bridge leading to the Virginia suburbs, but crashed his vehicle and fled on foot, officials said.
The government said Ortega-Hernandez’s fingerprints were found on ammunition magazines left in a 1998 Honda, but not on the weapon itself, which also was left in the car.

Press Release:SSS confirms death of 21 detainees after foiled prison break

The spokesperson for the Department of State Security Services (SSS) Marilyn Ogar said yesterday that 21 detained terrorists died during the attempted jailbreak at the Service's headquarters in Abuja on Sunday morning.

"Following our earlier releases, it has been established that eighteen (18) casualties were recorded, while two (2) Service personnel sustained serious injuries. Three (3) other detainees who sustained gunshot injuries during the incident have also died.

"Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing to ascertain the immediate and remote causes.

Nyako tells Jonathan!Stop blaming the Northerners on your poor perfomance

Jonathan spoke on saturday at the North East Zonal rally of the PDP in Bauchi, capital of Bauchi state. Nyako, who used to be a member of Jonathan’s PDP and has now joined the opposition APC, responded yesterday.
He described the President’s claim as unfortunate and insisted that it was the poor leadership exhibited by the Jonathan administration that had aided and abetted the rising spate of terrorism in the North.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that if there is any proof of bad governance, it will be located in the way and manner the President executes his priorities and the kind of statements he and his spokespersons make. Governors are not and cannot be held responsible for security challenges since they have no control over security apparatus. The President is the Commander-in-Chief with powers over the Armed Forces, Police and other security agencies,”Nyako said.

SSS,Military foils Jail break attempt by Boko Haram members

Security was  beefed up around the Presidential Villa and other parts of Abuja on Sunday morning as heavy shootings were recorded at the  headquarters of the State Security Service.

The SSS headquarters, known as Yellow House, is located behind the Villa.

The access gate to the Villa through the Fire Service office in Asokoro was quickly shut while more heavily armed soldiers were seen at the gate leading to the nation’s seat of power through the Federal Secretariat.

Military helicopters were also seen hovering over the area

BUSTED! NDLEA arrests 34yr Old man who inserts heroine in his anus

Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 34-year-old man who allegedly inserted two wraps of heroin into his anus to bring it into the country.
This is contained in a statement by Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, Head, Public Affairs of NDLEA, on Friday in Lagos.
It said the suspect was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on his arrival from Pakistan.
According to the statement, the heroin was detected during inward screening of passengers on a Qatar airline flight.

Islamic cleric caught slaughtering human being in Ibadan

Barely days after the discovery of the House of Horror in Soka, an Islamic cleric has been arrested trying to slit a girl’s throat.

According to the Tribune, The suspect, Isah Salaudeen, 37, is currently cooling his head at the Iyaganku Division of Oyo State Police Command for attempted murder of one Chiwendu Nkwocha (also known as Divine).

Salaudeen had started using knife to slit the throat of the girl after which he then used a cutlass to hack her. This made the lady to scream, jumped up from where she was lying and ran out for help.

The incident was said to have been reported by one Aafa Taiye Agulofi and Ademola Agoro, residents of Ori Eru, along Agbaje road, Agbeni area of Ibadan, where the suspect also resided.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday indicted some unnamed state governors in the north-eastern part of the country over the spate of insecurity in the zone that has left hundreds of people dead.

He said the unnamed governors who turn around to attribute the violence to bad leadership failed in their responsibility of providing basic primary and secondary education for the children.

He said the uneducated children who form an army of unemployed and unemployable youths are now tools in the hands of miscreants who feed and arm them to kill innocent citizens.

Nigeria’s first family, the Jonathans, are in a celebratory mood at the moment as their daughter, Faith Elizabeth Sakwe would be getting married to her hearthrob, Godswill Osim Edward come next month.

Faith, who was adopted by the First Family when she was still young, will be celebrating her traditional marriage ceremony, on Saturday, 5th April, 2014, at 1pm. Venue is the Otuoke, Bayelsa State residence of the president. This would be followed by the marriage ceremony at the National Ecumenical Centre, Phase 1, Abuja, and reception at the International Conference Centre, Herbert Macaulay Way, Abuja on Saturday, 12th April, 2014.

Thirty nine-year-old Angela Chidozie, who was arrested last week Friday by men of the Ogun State Police Command at a house she allegedly used as a ‘baby factory’ in Akute area of the state, is currently cooling off at the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the command.

She was arrested with eight young girls who are in different stages of pregnancy.

The fair-complexioned lady told Saturday PUNCH that money was not the aim of operating the business.

Chidozie insisted that she was sure none of her patrons bought the babies for ritual purposes.

Asked how she was sure of that, she said, “I study those who come to buy babies from me. When I am sure that they actually want to buy because they are looking for the fruits of the womb, I sell the babies to them.
