Unknown Gunmen Hijacked School Bus in Nyanya this morning

At about 8am this morning Unknown gunmen hijacked a primary school Bus of Vine International Academy school, in Nyanya, the scene of recent bomb attacks and made away with the school bus.

According to eye witnesses, the men trailed the bus to the school and immediately the driver dropped the pupils inside the school, the men struck, stealing the vehicle. Thankfully no teacher or student was hurt in the incident.

A staff of the school later said the operation looked more like armed robbery than an attack from terrorists. Immediately the incident spread, many parents trooped to the school out of panic and took their children home.

Former Governor of Ekiti State who was unseated by the incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi as joined forces to make sure that Kayode Fayemi return for second term.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Segun Oni, has abandoned the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Mr. Ayo Fayose, to team up with Governor Kayode Fayemi preparatory to the June 21 governorship election.

Oni made it known in Ifaki Ekiti on Monday during Fayemi’s visit to his residence before the campaign rally held in the town.

Oni’s decision to join forces with Fayemi was applauded by the supporters of the two politicians who were present at the meeting.

After the kidnap over over 270 girls on April 14th ,Boko Haram has claimed responsibility .Abubakar Shekau, leader of Boko Haram,has said he will sell the kidnapped Chibok girls in a video obtained by French news agency AFP, usually the first to lay hands on Boko Haram Videos...
In the video, Shekau declares:

"I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah. There is a market for selling humans. Allah says I should sell. He commands me to sell. I will sell women. I sell women." alleged Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau said in a video (he spoke in Hausa) that was released today.

President Jonathan promises to bring back the abducted girls

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan Sunday vowed that his government will ensure the release of the 223/(234) schoolgirls abducted by suspected Boko Haram Islamists.
“We promise that anywhere the girls are, we will surely get them out,” Jonathan said in a live radio-television media chat in the nation’s capital Abuja, monitored in Lagos.
“This is a trying time for this country… it is painful,” he said, and pleaded for the cooperation of parents, guardians and the local communities in the rescue efforts.
He said that Nigerians were “justified if they expressed their anger against government” over the perceived slowness in rescuing the girls who were kidnapped from their hostel in Chibok town, in northeast Borno state, on April 14.

Wife of the president Patience Jonathan has asked women to stop protesting over the abducted Chibok girls, Daily Trust reports. Mrs Jonathan expressed her frustration yesterday evening at the unwillingness of the Borno state first lady and other Borno state women to work with her on the missing girls. She said she can't be crying more than the bereaved.

According to Mrs Jonathan who burst into tears as she expressed her displeasure, she said she had called for a meeting with first ladies of the various states as well as some borno state officials to enquire on how the girls were kidnapped and find a way out but was suprised to see that some first ladies attended but the first lady of the state were the unfortunate incident happened did not honour her invitation.

First Ladies of Nasarawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, Kogi, Gombe, Benue, Abia and Akwa Ibom States attended the meeting as well as Borno State Commissioner of Police, Commissioner for Women Affairs, the principal of Chibok Government Secondary School, the chairman of Chibok Local Government Area, the divisional police officer in the area and the troops on duty when the girls were abducted.

How Landlord and 3 other men drowned inside Well while trying to retrieve Bucket

It has been a sad moment for some residents of Ogoja in Cross River state when three of their neighbours and landlord drowned respectively in a well located inside their compound as they tried to retrieve a bucket which fell into the well. Some of their neighbours have said it’s spiritual and they believe a force was behind it. The story;

One after another, four men entered a water well and drowned while trying to retrieve a bucket when the string cut letting the bucket to sink to the bottom of the well. The incident, which happened along Ogoja Road, Ikom in the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, attracted sympathisers some of them attributing the tragedy to a spiritual force.

A former presidential adviser on political matters, Ahmed Gulak, who was removed from office April 29, has resigned his position as national coordinator of the Goodluck Support Group (GSG), in what appears an indication he has completely fallen out with the presidency.
A report in the Nigerian Tribune said Mr. Gulak, on Friday, submitted a resignation letter dated May 2 to the deputy national coordinator of the campaign group, Eddy Olafeso.
The letter entitled “Resignation/Disengagement from Goodluck Support Group” did however not provide any insight into why Mr. Gulak quitted.

The management of Ibadan polytechnic have expelled six of its students from the institution over their involvement in cult activities

According to the registrar, Mr Hezekiah Ayodele, who signed the statement on behalf of the management, the students had appeared before the students’ Disciplinary Committee and were found guilty of fraternizing with an illegal cult group called Buccaneer, with attendant engagement in activities that endangered the life of staff and students of the institution.

According to SaharaReporters, A bomb attack in the city of Damaturu was foiled this morning by the men of Nigeria Police,

An attack by a suicide bomber operating in a pickup vehicle laden with IEDs was this morning foiled in Damaturu, the Yobe State Capital.
The target of the attack was ‘A’ Division of Police Command situated by the main round-about in the heart of the town.
The attempt was however foiled as the culprit was arrested by the police personnel on duty.
A total of 6 already constructed turbine containers loaded with explosives as well as 20 liters of petrol and 11 bags of beans chaff have been recovered from the scene.
The recovered materials are in the custody of the Joint Taskforce Headquarters in Damaturu.
The police anti-bomb squad has safely detonated the explosive.

SSS stops Sanusi Lamido from Travelling abroad,seizes his Passport

Reports by Premium Times is that the embattled Former CBN Governor Malam Sanusi Lamido was stopped from boarding a Turkish bound Airline Saturday nite at Aminu Kano International Airport

Premium Times reports.

Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services, SSS, on Saturday night blocked the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, from boarding a Turkish airline flight for a planned trip to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, a witness and a spokesperson for Mr. Sanusi have told Premium Times.

Operatives of the SSS based at the Aminu Kano International Airport also seized Mr. Sanusi’s passport and told him they would not allow him to travel abroad unless they received clearance from their Abuja headquarters.

A 29year Old KingsleyEkerete is cooling off his head in the Police Custody in Rivers State after killing his own 7year Old daughter over Just a plate of rice

Nigerian Tribune reports that Kingsley Ekerete, 29, a commercial driver who hails from Akwa Ibom State, holds just a First Leaving Certificate and has to drive his bus daily through the bustling traffic of Port Harcourt to make ends meet and put food on the table for his young family.

On this fateful day of April 12, 2014, Kingsley returned home like every other day at 1900hrs, already famished. He hurried down to the pot of rice he had prepared before leaving for work only to find that his also hungry daughter, Favour, had helped herself to the meal he had reserved for himself. Kingsley’s animal instincts became awakened and what followed were fits of mad rage as the red-eyed father unleashed his beastly tendencies on his seven-year-old daughter.

Little Favour Ekerete, who had been ill before this time, cried herself to sleep and her illness worsened as a result of the beating she received from her father. According to Kingsley’s own confession, she died some hours later.

Nigeria First Lady Patience Jonathan #MAMAPEACE has said she's ready to lead a protest to Chibok, Borno state if the kidnapped girls are not released soon (Sorry Why not to #SanbisaForest?, and doesn't mind being shot if that's what it will take to release the girls. Mama peace made this statement during a meeting with wives of government functionaries, female Senators and Commissioners.

"I do not mind being shot as long as they return our girls to us safely, we are tired of the kidnapping,” she said.

File: Stranded commuters on their way to Maiduguri

According to Vanguard ,

No fewer than 10 commuters and motorists were slaughtered by suspected Boko Haram terrorists along Maiduguri- Beneshiek- Damaturu road, while about 7 vehicles abandoned by their occupants were seized.

Maiduguri- Beneshiek – Damaturu road has remained a death trap with series of ambushes, particularly last year during which over 50 passengers and motorists were killed with over 20 vehicles set ablaze in a single ambush by terrorists.

Our Correspondent gathered from reliable sources that “the gunmen suspected to have been from Sambisa Forest enroute a new destination attempted to cross over the busy road Thursday evening, and on sighting vehicular movement, ordered drivers of two vehicles to stop, and when the drivers refused, they opened fire on the vehicles .

As part of the security measure to the United state citizens,The United States Embassy in Nigeria today Friday May 2nd issued a warning to U.S citizens, asking them to avoid Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, and also said 'groups associated with terrorism' are planning an attack on Sheraton Hotel in Lagos.

In order to bring an end to the activities of Boko haram and also to Bring back Chibok school girls and reunite them with their parents,The United States has offered to help Nigeria in the search for the 200+ schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram men on April 14th.

"We have been engaged with the Nigerian government in discussions on what we might do to help support their efforts to find and free these young women," State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told a daily briefing. "We will continue to have those discussions and help in any way we can."

Harf did not elaborate on the kind of assistance Washington is offering, but said: "We know Boko Haram is active in the area and we have worked very closely with the Nigerian government to build their capacity to fight this threat."

Barely three weeks after a bomb blast killed over 71 persons in Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, another explosion claimed about 30 lives on Thursday evening.

The blast, which was believed to be a suicide attack, occurred around 8:45pm when a bomb-laden car exploded at the Karshi Taxi Park, a few metres from where the April 14, 2014 explosion took place.

Eyewitnesses reports that 25 bodies were taken to the Maitama District Hospital, Asokoro, four corpses were dropped at the National Hospital while one body was taken to an unidentified hospital in Nyanya.

Scores of injured people were also evacuated by ambulances to different hospitals for treatment.

BREAKING NEWS! Another Bomb Blast in Nyanya

According to multiple eye-witness reports, and residents of Abuja, another blast hit Abuja again this evening. A loud explosion was heard around Mopol Junction Bus Stop, Nyanya, Abuja. The explosion was reported opposite Nyanya bus park, scene of the last explosion which killed over 70 people.

According to those on ground, the bomb went off around 7:20pm and has caused a lot of damage.

Security authorities have deployed men and resources to the location to maintain law and order, and take care of the casualties. It is really a sad Workers Day for residents of the highly-populated Abuja town.
