Police arrests the Kano Bombing suspect
The Nigeria Police in Kano State has arrested a suspect in connection with Monday afternoon’s bomb blast at the Kano State School of Hygiene, BUK Road, which killed 8 people and injured 12 others.
According to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, who spoke with journalists briefly after visiting the scene of the crime, investigations will begin immediately on the suspect’s motive for the act.
“The suspect is in our custody, and the vehicle he used for the operation has also been towed to the police headquarters," Shinaba said.

Ayo Fayose(PDP) won all the 16 Local Govt in Ekiti State
A former governor of Ekiti State and the
Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Ayo Fayose, has emerged the winner
of the state’s governorship election held on Saturday.
Fayose got majority votes in all the 16 local government areas announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The three major contenders in the
Saturday poll were the Governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, of the All
Progressives Congress; Bamidele Opeyemi of the Labour Party and Fayose,
the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party.

Arisekola Alao which was flown in to the country from the United Kingdom, was
received at the Ibadan end of the Lagos-Ibadan toll gate by Governor Abiola
Ajimobi, his wife, and other dignitaries this morning for burial.
The late mogul’s children, some of his associates and
religious leaders including the National Leader of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Kola Daisi, Mr. Oba Otudeko, Chief
Ebenezer Obey, Justice Bola Babalakin, Gen. David Jemibewon, Gen. Raji Rasaki,

Lagos State University resumes on Monday 23rd June 2014
The management of the Lagos State University, LASU, has announced the
resumption of academic activities in the school. The school re-opens
June 23rd after it was shut down following weeks of students' protest
over increase in school fees. The school fees have since been reduced.
Below is a statement released by the school's spokesperson, Kayode
Sutton...
"Sequel to the Lagos State government’s agreement to the reduction of the Lagos State University School Fees by 34% to 60% across different faculties, the university management has come up with the precise amount to be paid by students in all departments and faculties. In a swift compliance to this agreement, the Governing Council of the University has approved new school fees which now ranges between N76,250.00 for a final year student in the Arts Department (49.3% reduction), and N158, 250.00 for a 200 level Engineering and Medical (Direct entry) student.

Bomb Blast kills scores at a Viewing Centre in Damaturu
Scores of football lovers were on
Tuesday feared killed in a blast that rocked a football viewing centre
in Damaturu, Yobe State.
The victims were watching one of the
World Cup matches involving Brazil and Mexico national teams when the
explosion occurred some minutes after 8pm.
Reuters reported that there was no immediate word on casualties from security operatives. However, Channels Television reported that many were feared dead while scores were injured.
The injured were taken to the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital in Damaturu, according to the Lagos-based television station.
Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters has
said that a wanted top terror suspect is among the 486 suspected Boko
Haram members arrested by soldiers in Abia State.
The Director of Defence Information,
Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, in an electronic mail on Tuesday, said the
terror kingpin was identified during the screening of the suspects by
the Army and other security agencies.

Boko Haram threatens Chibok Community,We will be Back
Barely two months after abducting over
200 schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State, the militant Islamic sect,
Boko Haram, has written to the people of the community to watch out for
their next visit.
A highly-placed official of the Chibok
Local Government Area, who made this known to journalists on Thursday,
said that in the letter, the insurgents warned Chibok would soon be
visited with terror.
He however said that the letter had been shown to police authorities who assured them of maximum protection.
The official, who did not want his name
in print, said in spite of the assurances by the police, the people
were living in ‘‘great fear.’’
Military arrests 486 Boko Haram members in Abia State
Abia State Information Commissioner, Chief Eze Chikamnayo, who took some reporters to the military camp yesterday to see the suspects said they were arrested around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday along Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway at Arongwa area called Imo Gate, which is a boundary between Abia and Rivers states.
He said that the suspects whose ages were from 15 years were traveling on 35 buses from undisclosed northern states to the South South. He said that they claimed to be going to search for jobs, adding that two of the buses later escaped. Continue...

Boko Haram kills 25 Traders in Daku Village in Borno state
At least 25 traders have been killed in an attack at a local market in Nigeria's restive state of Borno, sources said.
The place is 30 km away from the scene of the abduction of more than 200 school girls in April.The attack, blamed on the Boko Haram sect, occurred Sunday at Daku village of Askir Uba local government area of the northern state, Xinhua reported.
"More people may have been killed. No one can say precisely how many traders lost their lives. We all had to scamper for safety. Obviously, the attackers were Boko Haram members," said Musa Tijani, a trader who spoke in local Hausa language.
According to Tijani, the attackers invaded the market, driving utility vans and riding on motorcycles.
They also carted away some wares from the shops. Before looting the shops, they sprayed bullets indiscriminately at buyers and sellers at the market, he added.

Police ordered to arrest the New Emir of Kano for Fraud
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, police have been ordered to arrest the new Emir of Kano for 'Fraud'. Below is how SR is reporting it..
The Nigerian police have been ordered to arrest the newly-crowned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on fraud-related charges stemming from his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to reliable sources at the Presidency in Abuja, the team of policemen at the Emir’s palace in Kano received the order from the Nigeria police headquarters to place Mr. Sanusi under arrest if he leaves the Kano Governor’s lodge.
The sources told SaharaReporters that Mr. Sanusi was to be arrested at his private home on Sunday night after his appointment was announced by the Kano State Governor.
Fashola announces reduction in LASU Tuition fee
The Lagos State Government on Wednesday announced the reduction of tuition fees of the Lagos State University (LASU) by between 34 per cent and 60 per cent.
Mr Fatai Olukoga, Special Adviser to Gov. Babatunde Fashola on Education, announced the reduction at a news conference in Ikeja.
He said the reduction, which cut across the different faculties and courses, was recommended by an Ad hoc committee set up to review the hiked fees and approved by the State Executive Council.
The Special Adviser said that the Governing Council of the University would issue details of what the reduction translated into and the fees payable by students in each department.
