I didn't see anything incriminating concerning Buhari-Says Obasanjo

 

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo made a new revelation on Tuesday said his administration probed the accounts of the Petroleum Trust Fund headed by the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and found nothing unpleasant.

Buhari headed the PTF, inaugurated in March 1995, under the regime of the late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha. The PTF was established to manage the fund accruable from the increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise know as petrol, from N3.25 to N11.

The PTF was scrapped by Obasanjo on assumption of the Presidency in 1999. The ex-President also set up a committee to investigate the accounts of the PTF following allegations of N25bn fraud in the agency.

Jonathan in closed door meeting with Obasanjo

 

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday hosted President Goodluck Jonathan   at his Hilltop   residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

It was gathered that the   meeting which started around 7pm and ended at about 9.15pm   centered on Jonathan’s re-election bid and the need to resolve the disagreement between the two.

The System Administrator of the All Progressives Congress Data Centre in Lagos, Mrs. Esther Enemuwe, has said she almost lost her four-month old pregnancy while in the custody of the Department of State Service for 10 days.

Enemuwe and four other agents of the party were arrested by the DSS at the data office of the party on 10, Ajibola Street, Ikeja, on November 22, 2014 for allegedly cloning Permanent Voter Cards and attempting to hack into the computers of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

While speaking on Sunday, Enemuwe said on the day she was arrested, a team of the DSS officers stormed her home and accused her of committing crimes against the nation.

Nigerian Army confirms 14 Soldiers dead, 30 injured during Baga operation

 

The Nigerian army has confirmed 14 soldiers were killed with 30 wounded during an operation to reclaim Baga from Boko Haram.. Tough they haven't confirmed the number of civilians killed by the insurgents, Amnesty international claims over 2000 died in Boko Harams's deadliest attack since its inception. 

A statement from the Defence Head quarters reads  

“A total of 14 soldiers were killed in action during the attack, while over 30 who were wounded are now receiving medical attention. Most of those declared missing in action

Violence Erupts as APC Supporters Vandalized PDP properties in Gombe State

Despite the pledge by Nigeria’s two main political parties to violence free general elections, violent acts by their supporters appear to be on the rise.

Two days after campaign buses of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation were set ablaze in Jos, Plateau State, several property belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe State were burnt down on Sunday.

The Gombe incident occurred in Gona Village of Akko Local Government Area.

A resident of the town, Mijinyawa Ahmed, informed PREMIUM TIMES that a convoy of the APC governorship candidate, Inuwa Yahya, instigated the violence in which the PDP office, two vehicles and several shops were burnt down.

Over 70% Candidate failed WAEC NOV/DEC2014

 

Over 70 percent of candidates who participated in this year’s WAEC exams have failed, the Head, National Office of the Council, Charles Eguridu announced yesterday. Mr Eguridu while announcing the results said, out of the total number of 241,161 candidates who sat for the examinations, only 72,522 scored five credits with the two key subjects, giving a pass rate of 29.27 percent. A record which only supersedes that of 2013 by only 1 percent.

It will also be recalled that there was also a massive failure last year when only 86,612 candidates passed out of a total number of 298,971 candidates who wrote the examinations.

A 29yr old man dies in Prison for attempting to withdraw N25k from Brother's account

 
A senior magistrate of a court sitting in Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos State, Mrs. O.A Olayinka, on Thursday berated some officers of the Nigerian Prisons Service attached to the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison for the death of a defendant, Okenife Okeke.
The magistrate blamed the prison officers for their failure to produce the defendant in the court after his first appearance on April 3, 2014.

Punch learnt that 29-year-old Okeke had been remanded in the prison while the case was adjourned till April 10.
He was, however, not brought to the court until he died of diabetes in November 11 at the prison’s clinic.”

Residents and neighbours in the area said trouble started a few days earlier when Abosede began to confess to committing some evil deeds through diabolical means.
