TRUE CONFESSION: Hold me responsible for Amaechi's K-leg -Obasanjo

FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he should be held responsible for the travails of the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, before and after the 2007 governorship election.

Obasanjo explained that rather than blame Dr. Peter Odili, who was Amaechi’s predecessor, the state governor should realise that he (Obasanjo) was fully in charge and responsible for his (Amaechi) woes.

It will be recalled that Obasanjo surprisingly denied Amaechi the PDP governorship ticket during the build up to the 2007 general election in Rivers State, declaring the Ikwerre-born politician’s case as having a K-leg.

K-leg is an euphemism used by Obasanjo in 2007 to describe the reason why he did not give Amaechi the governorship ticket.

LASU Re-Opens February 24 to meet NYSC Deadline

Lagos State University (LASU) Senate in a memo dated 14th February has fixed  Monday, February 24th as the resumption date for  the school, shut down  three  weeks ago following students unrest.

The university was shut on 23 January after students protested over the closure by the school’s management of the online registration portal for the semester’s examination.

How 40 armed robbers invades Shomolu in just one Night

A band of armed robbers of no fewer than 40 members have been brought to their knees after being engaged by a volunteer vigilance group in Lagos State.

This was however, after they had allegedly held a car dealer hostage and robbed him of a large amount of money.

Boko Haram kills 53, abduct 25 Teenagers in Konduga,Borno State

Boko Haram on  Tuesday attacked Konduga town in Borno State,  killing  53 persons. They  also abducted 25 teenage girls and set fire on  many houses in the town.

Konduga is a town along Maiduguri-Bama Road and is about 40 kilometres  from the state capital, Maiduguri.

The gunmen  attacked the only hospital in the town, abducted the medical doctor and carted away drugs and medical equipment.

President Goodluck Jonathan has accepted the resignation of four cabinet ministers.

They are Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah; Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade; Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe; and Minister of State for Finance, Yerima Ngama.

They were asked to resign to save them the humiliation of being sacked.

It is not immediately clear why Messrs Olubolade, Orubebe and Ngama were asked to leave.

PDP is back on course regains House Majority

The Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday regained its majority status in the House of Representatives following the  defection of five members of the All Progressives Congress to the PDP.

The PDP, which had earlier lost the majority status in the House to the APC, now has 178 lawmakers to APC’s 168.

Although the APC also gained one member from the PDP on Tuesday, the latter is now in the majority.

The APC had moved to 172 members on December 19, 2013 after 37 PDP lawmakers defected to the party.
