Tambuwa denies porting to APC

 

The  Speaker of the House of  Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, said on Sunday that the suspension of Mallam  Lamido Sanusi as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria could hurt the nation’s economy.

Tambuwal, who visited former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said the action by President Goodluck Jonathan was capable of   sending “wrong signals” to  international   investors about  Nigeria’s  financial institutions.

Explaining that he was at the Hilltop residence of the former  President to consult him on some  key issues of  “national interest,” the speaker stated that foreign businessmen  must have  confidence in a nation’s financial system before they could invest their funds.

Mother of the late Ecobank worker, Babatunde Oke,  has insisted that the police knew how her son died.

Babatunde died under controversial circumstances while in custody of the Falomo Police Division, Lagos State, over allegation of N1.2m fraud.

The man, who was attached to the bank’s branch in Ogba, was detained for three days by the police over his alleged involvement in the fraud.

Another Nigerian Student killed in Ghana

 

Godwin Ayogu, a Nigerian citizen, and a 300-level student at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana, has been murdered in the West African country, and his body was dumped by the roadside.

Ayogu was studying social sciences in the institution and was last seen on Tuesday afternoon, sources at the university said.

Arowolo Akolade, the man who stabbed his banker wife to death on Friday June 24, 2011 after a domestic dispute at their home in Isolo, Lagos , has been found guilty of her murder and has been sentenced to death.

Akolade appeared before trial judge Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Ikeja High Court this morning Friday Feb. 21 and was found guilty on one-count of murder. The judge said the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that he killed his wife.

A 20-year-old man , Malam Kamisu Baranda,has been arrested by Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a goat at Baranda forest in Dutse Local Government Area.
Vanguard reports...

Kamisu was said to have admitted that the goat belonged to him and that he had asked the goat to have sexual intercourse with him but he was arrested by the village head of the area and handed over to the police.He explained that this was not the first time of having sex with animals inside bush because he has done it over 10  times and was never arrested. He regretted that if he knew that he would be arrested, he would have not tried it because it was the reason why he did not make love with women in the area.

Skales leaves EME Records

It's confirmed. Skales  has parted ways with Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) after over 3 years with the label. There was no fight, disagreement or any drama like that, the label just didn't renew his contract after the one they had with him expired in January 2014.

Zenith Bank MD picked to replace Mallam Sanusi

 

In less than 24hrs that the former CBN Gov Mallam Sanusi Lamido was sacked President Jonathan has picked the current Managing Director of Zenith Bank Godwin Emefiele to replace him as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. His name has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation. 

Bayo Adelabu, the current Executive Director at First Bank as Deputy Governor of CBN, replacing Tunde Lemo.

The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday, said he would not reply the presidency on the latter’s statement accusing the governor of falsehood and ignorance.

The presidency, had on Tuesday, through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, berated the Borno governor for suggesting that the members of the Boko Haram were better armed and motivated than Nigerian soldiers battling the insurgents in the North East.

Mr. Shettima had made the statement on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after briefing President Goodluck Jonathan on the recent upsurge in attacks on civilians in Borno by the Boko Haram.

The life of a 17-year-old student of Bowen University, Opeyemi Odusanya, has been cut short by some cult members in Lagos.

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKDC) on Monday advised customers to desist from contributing money to officials to buy electricity materials.

Its Assistant General Manger (Public Affairs), Mr Pekun Adeyanju, gave the advice during its Customers Consultative Forum and Sensitisation meeting in Ikorodu, which was attended by over 1000 customers.
