Five male students of a Nigerian university landed into a big soup when they allegedly gang raped another young boy who nearly bled to death from the injuries he sustained from the assault.

Leadership learnt that one of the students, a 2nd year student whose name was given as Friday Desmond, had been lovers with the raped boy who name was given as George. He had promised to marry George as soon as he graduated from university.

The dreaded islamic sect in the Northern part of Nigeria (Boko Haram) have threatened to kill the school girls they abducted in the early hours of April 15th if the search for them continues. This is after some Borno women under the auspices of BAOBAB Women’s Right said they are planning to storm the Sambisa forest where the abducted girls are believed to be held.

The women said since efforts by the military to rescue the girls haven't worked so far, it was time for them to take matters into their hands as concerned mothers.

Lagos NURTW to install CCTV at Motor Parks

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State chapter, said on Thursday that it would install Circuit Camera Televisions (CCTV) to strengthen security in its motor parks.
The state’s Chairman of the union, Tajudeen Agbede, said that security officers would also be appointed for the parks.
Agbede was reacting to the bomb explosion at Nyanya Motor Park in Abuja on 14 April, which claimed several lives and property.
The union has agreed to appoint a chief security officer in each of its units across the state to beef up security so as to prevent such experience in Lagos.
“We have agreed to instal circuit camera televisions (CCTVs) in every park in the state to ensure that we capture everything that is going on in our parks.
“We agreed to appoint a chief security officer in all units who will go for security training at a government appointed centre.

Nigerian Soldiers captured Boko Haram members in Taraba State

The Nigerian military on Wednesday said a suspected terrorist arrested at Gindin Dorowa, Wukari in Taraba State, confessed to being a member of the dreaded Boko Haram group.
The Director, Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, in a statement said the suspect confessed to being involved in terrorism in Borno State and was recently posted to Wukari to further his mission.
Mr. Olukolade said the suspect was arrested alongside many others operating under the guise of herdsmen from a camp in Gidin Dorowa, a suburb of Wukari.
He said some of the terrorists died after an attack on a military check point.
Mr. Olukolade said that other members of the group were sighted during air surveillance and later trailed to their camp where they engaged the troops in a battle.

Fresh Attack! Gunmen kill 50 in Taraba State

Unknown gunmen yesterday struck residents of Gidan Aku community on the outskirts Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State killing no fewer than 50 people with many seriously injured.

According to reports, the men who stormed the area with sophisticated weapons allegedly came in from Nassarawa state and attacked the residents while they were sleeping. They set the whole place on fire forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety.

An eyewitness and also a lawyer in the community, Luka Agbu said no security officer came to their rescue during the attack

According to PMNEWS,
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday refused to screen a nominee of the state governor, Mr Adisa Ipaye, for failure to present his resident’s registration card.
Governor Babatunde Fashola had sent the name of Ipaye and another nominee, Mr Olusola Adeosun, to the House for confirmation as members of the State Audit Service Commission.
Ipaye, who appeared for the screening, was asked for his resident’s registration card but said he had yet to register with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).
The nominee also failed to present his West African Senior School Certificate and told the lawmakers that he did not know it would be required during the screening.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the entertainer visited the victims at the Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja in company of the FCT Health Secretary, Dr Ademola Onakomaiya.

During his visit, D'banj said the government alone cannot do all that is required for peace to reign in the country.

"I am a Nigerian and I am affected by any tragedy that befalls us and particularly in the spirit of Easter, I came to show the victims support. I have seen that the survivors are responding positively to treatment and thanked the medical team here for the efforts.

Police DPO accused of rape has been granted bail

You remember the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Onikan Station, SP Adekunle Awe, accused of having sex with a woman detained at the ?(read here) has been been granted bail. He was granted bail yesterday after spending three days in detention. 

 

According to reports, this is not the first time DPO Awe would be accused of demanding sex from a woman in police custody. Hopefully it will be his last.

 

Meanwhile the IG of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered a discreet investigation into the allegation and has instructed that the police make their findings known to the Public.

Boko Haram abducted 234girls not 200-Parents told Borno state Governor

Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, yesterday paid a visit to the Girls Government College, Chibok, where over 200 girls were abducted on April 14th, to have an on-the-spot assessment of the attack

While in the school, parents of the missing students told the governor that contrary to media reports that 129 girls were abducted, that the actual number is 234. They said the 129 girls earlier reported were science students who were in the school writing their WAEC exams, while the remaining 106 students were Arts students who were at their hostels when the attackers arrived.

Armed Robbers invades 8 streets in Mushin for 7hrs, destroy 30cars

There were fears and tension in the Mushin area of Lagos State on Monday morning after about 60 robbers operated on no fewer than eight streets and destroyed about 30 vehicles.

Some residents told our correspondent that the robbers also raped some young ladies and operated unchallenged for about seven hours.

The hoodlums, who reportedly belonged to two cult groups – Akala boys and Toheeb’s gang – ravaged New Balogun, Euba, Ayonuga, Tiamiyu, Haruna, Ereko, Oyedele streets and Coker Lane.

A mosque on Coker Lane was not spared as the worshippers, who slept in the mosque after a vigil, were robbed by the hoodlums.

One of the people in the mosque said  that the robbers fired bullets for over one hour before robbing from house-to-house.

Boko Haram attacks Govt Girl's Sec Sch kills 5yr old girl in Bauchi

Boko Haram men in the early hours of yesterday April 20th attacked the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Yana, killing a 5year old girl and setting some buildings in the staff quaters ablaze.

The Bauchi State Police spokesperson, DSP Haruna Mohammed while confirming the incident said the gunmen stole a private vehicle belonging to the Principal of the School and also destroyed a bank vault

“Unknown gunmen attacked the staff quarters of GGSS Yana, Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State, around 2.30am on Sunday. They set the school bus ablaze; and in the process, a five-year-old girl was killed in the fire while they destroyed the vault of a bank,’’ he said

He said a combined team of security forces are on the trail of the attackers.

In a statement released by Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, on his website, www.frankmba.com, he affirmed that the officer, Cpl Muhammed Nasir with Force Number, 229057, has been arrested.
A statement by the police force read: “In reaction to the video clip on YouTube depicting a police officer beating up a woman which has raised a lot of questions by the public demanding that justice be meted on the culprit, The Police Public Relations officers have followed up on the issue.”

Court refuses bail application of the suspected Credit card fraudster

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday March 17, 2014 arraigned one Funsho Babatunde Oladimeji before Justice Kudirat Jose of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja on a 3-count charge bordering on forgery and possession of fraudulent documents.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against him.
In view of the plea of the defendant, prosecuting counsel, M. K. Basiru,  prayed the court for a trial date and to remand the accused in prison custody. Basiru opposed the defendant’s bail application on the ground that, he has no valid identity based on the fact that he has two international passports bearing different names.
Defence counsel, Gabriel Organ, while not denying the fact that the defendant has dual identity, prayed the court to grant him bail on very liberal terms.
