Boko Haram attacked Military base in Adamawa, 24 killed

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram have attacked a security base in Buni Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba Local Government Area killing 24 officials, residents of the area have said.
The victims include 13 soldiers and 11 police officers, the residents said.
The attack occurred on Tuesday evening, a few minutes after 5:00 p.m.
Residents of the town informed the BBC Hausa service that the attackers came in ten Hilux vans, an armoured tank, and several motorcycles.
The insurgents reportedly told the residents to go back home and stay indoors as their target were the security personnel in the town.

Boko Haram threatens Adamawa State University gives them "LAST WARNING" Letter

The students of Adamawa state University are in fear after they have received several letters over the past two weeks, from who they believe are boko haram.Initially they felt it was a prank until the latest letter which was attached with a pound of flesh and dripping blood.

A source has told SaharaReporters that the letters are believed to be real, coming directly from Boko Haram.

The students are now living in fear.Most of those who use the only hostel available to men have not slept there over the past weekend.  The hostel, also known as ‘Barde Hall,was nearly empty of students beginning on Saturday evening.  Barde Hall, is also popularly known as "256" by many in the student body. It is a popular ‘hang out’ spot for many of the students attending. It is also seen as a safe space, and resting place, that normally has scores of students milling around outside during the academic year. Many of the students did not sleep, or ‘hang out’ at the hostel on Saturday night. It was ghostly quiet.

Children parliament and other dignitaries visited the Nigeria First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan in Abuja to mark the Children's Day and handed over letters to her, the first letter was directed to the President while the second was directed to Boko Haram and this is what "MamaPeace" has to say

“Let me thank the children that gave me a letter to give Boko Haram. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don’t know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the NSS or the Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly.

“To my children, thank you for your letter. Thank you for your deliberation. I have received what you gave to me. I will make sure I pass it to the President because it is addressed to him and the other one is addressed to Boko Haram. That is why the two are different,” she added.

Earlier, Patience had told the children that God’s instruction to mankind to honour their parents was not limited to their biological parents only.

He said, “We want our girls back; our military can do it, but where they are held, we cannot go with force.

“If we go with force, what will happen? they will kill them . So nobody should come and say the Nigerian military does not know what it is doing. We know what we are doing; we can’t go and kill our girls in the name of trying to get them back. So we are working.

Police arrests 31yr Old WAEC fraudster in Edo State

 

A 31- year-old man, Akharamen Ehizokhai, alleged to have hacked into the website of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command.

The alleged fraudster  was said to have opened a  website where he posted fake questions and answers of Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for candidates on agreed fees.

He allegedly charged per subject and had been involved in the illicit deal for  two years. On the internet, the suspect allegedly collected  N5,000 per subject.
Some of the students who got in touch with the suspect  were said to have been directed to pay into a bank account  with the name Akharamen Ehizokhai Favour.

Following persistent reports by parents and candidates over the alleged fraudulent activities of the suspect  in Edo and neighbouring states, crack detectives from the Edo Command were detailed to trail him. Consequently, he was arrested in Ekpoma.

Boko haram kills 20 people in Borno after demanding for N250k from the villagers

Twenty persons were reportedly killed on Sunday afternoon in an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Kamuyya Village in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Sunday attack, according to residents of the area, was hatched by dozens of the members of the outlawed sect who invaded Kamuyya Village with assault rifles and explosives.

The attack was on for over two hours and 20 persons were killed by the insurgents who fled back into the forest.

Residents, who spoke to journalists in Maiduguri on the phone, said some insurgents had visited the town about two months ago and asked the village head to mobilise his subjects to contribute N250,000 for them in order to execute “God’s work.”

The villagers were only able to raise N70,000.

When I gave birth on April 13, 2014, one lady whose name is Maria Asomba, arranged for the baby to be sold to Mrs. Nkechi Ugochukwu, and she paid N430, 000, but Asomba gave me N150,000.When the police arrested Ugochukwu, I told them I didn’t want the baby again, because I already have two children and my mother is taking care of them.

Nigerian Army Sighted Chibok Girls 200miles away from where they were abducted

The schoolgirls kidnapped in North-Eastern Part of  Nigeria in Borno State by the Boko Haram sect have been sighted for the first time, it was reported locally on Thursday.

The truth is I have never felt it, some say it’s not human, but I have not. I can’t be wasting my time trying to reply lies because I have too many things to do. They are doing their work, let me be doing my work too and before they wake up in the morning, I’ve done the next one, so, it doesn’t matter. My idea of it is that, in a football match, you have only 22 people playing with thousands of spectators. And that is the way it is in the journey of life. In every field, you find just few players and many spectators, multitudes. If we don’t know where to place opinions, they will displace us. When we started Convenant University, so many people said it would not work, now, we hosted two Nobel Laureates this week, whereas no Nigerian university has ever hosted

Rockect Launcher factory uncovers in Kano

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), on Friday in Abuja, said rocket launcher production facility was uncovered at Dorayi District in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano.
This information was contained in a statement issued and signed by Major-General Chris Olukolade, Director of Defence Information.
The statement said that cordon and search exercise led to the discovery of the facility.
It explained that the discovery followed the arrest of a prominent member of the terrorist group.
“Locally made anti-aircraft gun and mortar accessories and rocket propelled grenade tubes and launcher along with accessories were recovered.
“Also seized were three AK47 rifles and hundreds of rounds of assorted ammunitions as well as drilling machines and other fabricating equipment.
The statement reminded the public to report suspicious persons to security agencies in their localities to prevent unwholesome act by terrorists.

Nigerian soldiers protests again in Borno over unpaid allowance

I think revolution is just unfolding itself gradually in every system of government in Nigeria. The old Nigerian system that i know used to be "Apes Obey" but the New Nigeria things are gradually changing.

Reports say at about 3pm yesterday, the soldiers gathered together and marched to the new GOC's office, shooting into the air and chanting "we nor go gree" songs. The soldiers were demanding for their unpaid furniture allowance which is N100,000 and other allowances as well as the reinstatement of Okada and Tricycle means of transportation which was banned by the new GOC. President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday urged those who have been protesting the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, to henceforth direct their protest to the Boko Haram terrorists and not the government.

The President also urged the protesters to learn from citizens of other countries who do not blame their governments for any terrorist act.

He has however admitted publicly for the first time that his administration was currently consulting with some stakeholders with a view to exploring what he called alternative methods of resolving the present crisis.

Jonathan made the disclosure in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Olajumoke Akinjide, to a team of #BringBackOurGirls campaigners, led by a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwezili.

A suspected jewel thief left his mobile phone - complete with 'selfie' - at the Kingston store where he is alleged to have stolen £18,000 worth of rings.

Police in Kingston are appealing for help to find Germain Ibrahim Fofana, a 27-year-old French national who is wanted for a series of offences across London, including shoplifting, robbery and burglary.

He is suspected of stealing two engagement rings and a wedding band worth a total of £18,000 from Ernest Jones in Clarence Street on Sunday, May 18.

But in his rush to escape the store, the suspect left behind a bag which included his mobile phone - with a self portrait for a screensaver.

OAU Ife Students held Presidential convoy hostage

 

A presidential convoy was today, Thursday May 22, held hostage by hundreds of protesting students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, after security details attached to the convoy allegedly shot at them. The convoy led by a Toyota SUV with ‘Presidency’ inscription and registration number, FG902-B02, tried to drive through the students who were protesting an increase in fees by the university. Two of the students reportedly sustained injuries. 

One of the leaders of the protest told PREMIUM TIMES on phone:

“The security details shot at us. We have held them hostage. We will not let him go.”

A group of gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram sect members, stormed, seeded death and set the houses ablaze in Gumboru Ngala town, Borno State, today Thursday May 22, 2014.
According to the information by SaharaReporters, 27 people lost their lives during the raid, and only three houses are left standing.
The villagers have reportedly cried out for protection, but security forces, police, army and other military personnel were absent in the village during the assault.
It would be recalled that market, customs office, police station and almost every shop in Gamboru Ngala town suffered from insurgents’ attack on May 5, 2014.

Thailand Military takeover power today

Thailand's military seized power from the government and suspended the constitution today Thursday May 22 2014, in moves that amount to the latest in the country's long history of military coups.
The lightening-fast move, two days after the army imposed martial law, has roots in years of impasse between rival political factions since the last coup in 2006. For the past six months, Thailand has seen fierce protests both for and against the government and the armed forces said they felt forced to take over after talks between both sides failed.
Two days after imposing martial law in Thailand, the army has carried out a coup d'etat.

In a statement broadcast on national television, the country's army chief announced that the military had seized power to restore stability and order after six months of political turmoil.
The BBC's Jonathan Head in Bangkok said that TV networks, including the BBC, have ceased normal programming and a curfew is in place.
