A Nigerian undergraduate student who used his tuition fee to buy hard drug has been arrested for drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said in a statement on Saturday.

NDLEA said the suspect, Udiomeh Kufre Ita, a student of the faculty of Management Sciences at the Regent University in Ghana, was arrested at the weekend at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. He was caught with 1.745 kilogrammes of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis popularly called hemp.

The suspect was found in possession of the drug during the inward screening of passengers on an Africa World Airlines flight from Accra, Ghana, said NDLEA Lagos Airport Commander, Hamza Umar. Continue...

Student Shot Dead at South Carolina State University

A student was shot dead Friday afternoon at South Carolina State University, prompting a manhunt for several suspects that extended beyond the school’s Orangeburg campus.

Orangeburg County Coroner Samuetta Marshall identified the slain student as Brandon Robinson, 20, of Orangeburg.

“He was a very nice young man,” South Carolina State University President Thomas Elzey said, fighting back tears in a brief statement to reporters. “And it hurts. It hurts us all.”

LASU Students on Rampage, disrupt Exams, Stone Vice Chancellor

Lagos State University students went on the rampage Thursday, disrupting the university’s second semester examination and destroying properties in the process.

The protest which started Wednesday over the closure of the university’s registration portal, led to stoning of the University Vice Chancellor Prof. John Obafunwa, as he tried to evade the riotous students who had blocked the main gate and made bonfires on the Lagos-Badagry expressway.
