Boko Haram kidnaps 60 people in Cameroun
In a deadly attack yesterday Sunday, Boko Haram fighters from Nigeria
kidnapped at least 60 people during a new attack in northern Cameroon
in which some people were killed,The Islamist militants “burst into two villages in the Tourou area… They torched houses and left with around 60 people. Most of these people were women and children,” a police officer told AFP, adding that the cross-border attack had “left some people dead” without giving an exact toll.

FG reduces Petrol Price to 87
Federal Government yesterday sunday 18th of Jan announced a reduction in the pump price of petrol by N10 from N97 to N87 per litre.
The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs.
Diezani Alison-Madueke, announced the reduction while briefing State
House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Alison-Madueke said the reduction, which
took immediate effect, was because of the recent drastic fall in the
prices of crude oil in the international market.

Nollywood Actor Muna Obiekwe is dead
Actor Muna Obiekwe is dead. He died this evening around 4:15pm in a hospital in Lagos after a battle with kidney failure. He was rushed to the hospital today after he collapsed at his home. Muna has been quietly battling this kidney disease but kept it hush hush from friends and colleagues. So Sad! A colleague said for over two weeks before he died didn't go for his dialysis.
Muna needed money for his health problems but instead of going public to raise money, he told friends he was planning a stage play to raise money but died before he could do it. Unbelievably sad!

227 Soldiers Protest Unlawful Dismissal
According to their leader, they were dismissed from the Army on Tuesday January 13th after being called from their various operation units to face a panel at the barracks and without being given any fair hearing or told what their offenses were.
Some of the soldiers alleged that their refusal to fight members of Boko Haram in October 2014 led to their dismissal.

President Jonathan paid a surprise visit to Maiduguri
President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday
paid a surprise visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, one of the three
North-Eastern states worst hit by Boko Haram insurgency.
Jonathan embarked on the trip shortly

Fashola, on Tuesday said President Goodluck Jonathan’s comment that his
generation had failed Nigerians was personal to him.
He told the President to accept responsibility for his failure to address the challenges confronting the nation.
Fashola spoke at a town hall meeting
organised by the State Ministry of Transportation which had transport
unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers’ in
attendance.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo made a new revelation on
Tuesday said his administration probed the accounts of the Petroleum
Trust Fund headed by the All Progressives Congress presidential
candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and found nothing
unpleasant.
Buhari headed the PTF, inaugurated in
March 1995, under the regime of the late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha. The
PTF was established to manage the fund accruable from the increase in
the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise know as petrol, from
N3.25 to N11.
The PTF was scrapped by Obasanjo on
assumption of the Presidency in 1999. The ex-President also set up a
committee to investigate the accounts of the PTF following allegations
of N25bn fraud in the agency.

Violence Erupts as APC Supporters Vandalized PDP properties in Gombe State
Despite the pledge by Nigeria’s two main political parties to violence
free general elections, violent acts by their supporters appear to be on
the rise.Two days after campaign buses of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation were set ablaze in Jos, Plateau State, several property belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe State were burnt down on Sunday.
The Gombe incident occurred in Gona Village of Akko Local Government Area.
A resident of the town, Mijinyawa Ahmed, informed PREMIUM TIMES that a convoy of the APC governorship candidate, Inuwa Yahya, instigated the violence in which the PDP office, two vehicles and several shops were burnt down.
